Georgia: 1 bdrm apt in Tbilisi:
I just rented a nice furnished 1 bedroom apartment in the Didube district for $300 a month. Utilities should run about $20 a month with an additional cost of $10 for phone (Beeline or GeoCell unlimited local calls and to the States @ $4.00 an hour) and about $10 for high speed internet, I've downloaded at speeds up to 3.9 megabytes/second the usual usually at about 2.5 mg/sec. Eating out is about $3-$5 a meal. I fed myself and 3 other adults and 2 children for $15. Great food! ATMs are everywhere. They pay in US dollars and Georgian Lari (GEL).

I've bumped heads with Susan in the past but on this flair up I come down on her side.
Ecuador: Never Lived Abroad:
In the second post casadecuenca said: "Personal firearms are not allowed unless you own a farm and then you can only own a shotgun."
Can it be a sawed off shotgun? I've aways wanted one of those.
Ecuador: banks:
That is something I am curious about too.
Ecuador: Can't work and collect Social Security:
In my research for next year I found something about losing SS payments. I realize there is a cap on how much you can earn if you are not at full retirement age but this says you can't earn almost anything if you live outside the US. True?

"The foreign work test:
We withhold benefits for each month a beneficiary younger than full retirement age works more than 45 hours outside the United States in employment or self-employment not subject to U.S. Social Security taxes. It does not matter how much you earned or how many hours you worked each day.
We consider a person to be working any day he or she:
• Works as an employee or self-employed person;
• Has an agreement to work even if the person does not actually work because of sickness, vacation, etc.; or
• Is the owner or part owner of
a trade or business, even if the person does not actually work in the trade or business, or the person does not make any income from it."

Georgia: Staying Beyond 360 Days:
Older thread now but I understand the Georgian government has changed its policy again and the 360 day visa is once again.
I hope to be there for a long stay starting in October.
Ecuador: Rafael Correa is a Conspiracy Theorist !!!:
Shazam! el Presidente is making claims that the CIA is plotting to his overthrow with the funds from 300 kilos of Chilean cocaine! There's a video link of him speaking about this. I do not speak Spanish so perhaps someone who can can sum up his concerns?

Ecuador: The New International Spies of Fraud Investigators:
I have read that 3,500,000 Americans have gone on or applied for disability since the 2008 crash. Also that 45% of returning military veterans apply for disability. To me this is just another sign of a deteriating economy. I expect someday the economy will be mostly made up of two main segments. Those on the dole and those watching and monitoring them. A complete prison planet based here in the "Land of the Free".
