Costa Rica: Looking for short time rental!:

Does anybody replying live in Costa Rica ? or are they just trying to sell something. Central Valley is obviously Central . There are many Aparthotels especially for short term rentals . They range from $1000 up . They give complete service . You want reasonable climate -- again ONLY in Central Valley. I would choose Sabana , Escazu /Santa Ana area. This area has all the amenities.

Costa Rica: Can I find Brown Rice in Jaco?:

I cant believe these questions. I live here in Escazu and every supermarket has brown rice and integral as well . They also have organic vegetables. I think more common than US --(depends which state) . Everthing is here. If you go to cheap restaurants you will not find brown rice. There is even a chain of Vegetarian restaurants with of course only integral rice. I dont know where you are looking. Note in the US , like the sugar brown rice can be died white rice which is not good (Similarly brown sugar). You want integral rice.

Costa Rica: CR living:

Hi , All depends on what you consider good weather. Santa Ana is relatively cool and 1.15 hours to beach.By now you will realize the beach is very hot but good to visit. Also close to all amenities including malls, hospitals e.t.c..

Costa Rica: Best Place to Retire in Costa Rica?:

Most expats live around Escazu -Santa Ana - Ciudad Colon area (West Suburbs). Many work here and most diplomats choose this area. Also this also attracts a lot of retirees. This has everything and has been declared Second World as it is similar to the US. An estimated 70% of all expats live here. Of course this area has many international schools, cinemas , major hospitals , international restaurants , clubs , boutiques , malls , golf e.t.c. There are also many markets , even organic only. Climate is ideal between 20and 28(68 to 83F) but of course you can choose a little cooler or warmer by altitude. Practical altitude varies from 750meters to 1400Mts(2500 to 4600ft). As a result most people do not use heating or A/C. Pools often need to be heated over 1000meters of altitude. You can choose central town Escazu walking distance to amenities or up at 1300 meters in Santa Ana in a Nature Reserve and many areas in between . As this area is the most up market ,prices may be a little higher than rural areas but you have all the amenities. People here don’t understand living at the beach with harsh temperatures and humidity or in the middle of nowhere in the countryside. These places are beautiful to visit and spend time there but it is always good to get back to a cooler climate. Those areas usually are for the people who work there or Tourists. Some expats retire to the beach but often are looking to get back to this area once they spend time out there. Many Real Estate adds say “ now only 30 minutes from Multiplaza Escazu “ implying that you need to go there. Why not live 10 minutes from Multiplaza in The West Suburbs. If you have kids who want to be social they will be meeting there and you will probably be driving!

Costa Rica: location:

There are two Schools considered American or I presume you mean US. Country Day and American International. The former is far better in my view. Most expats choose live in Escazu and Santa Ana both 15 minutes from these schools . I would recommend Escazu as a little cooler for you guys. (70-80 in parts). Let me know if i can help at all. Barry

Costa Rica: Any suggestions for places to sell stuff other than craigslist?:

How about this Forum ? .put your number and list of items +price. Try also AMcostarica , large churches . Barry

Costa Rica: Relocation Suggestions:

I dont know whta sites you have been looking at. check out aecostarica.com and reply to barrycor@racsa.co.cr. You should find under $300K. Early for schools if only 2 year old. 90% expats choose Escazu and Santa Ana area . You will see why when you come. Traffic very bad in Heredia. leave it upto you. Barry

Costa Rica: massage therapy in Costa Rica:

try e-mail sylvia@rawbotanicals.com say Barry suggested it.

Costa Rica: Possible move to CR:

You have hit the jackpot. Moving to work here . 1000,s from US would come here. Having a job lined up and probably piad schooling. Nobody lives in san Jose but most choose Escazu or Santa Ana . Can be very peaceful in a nature reserve and close to all. Forget the coast ---try looking at other topics re location. Many international schools 15 minutes away.

Costa Rica: Expats concentration:

very simple 80% are around Escazu and Santa Ana . the rest scattered across whole country
