Panama: Rent A Car 1 mo. in Pan City.. is anyone honest?:

As someone who has been to Panama multiple times, I feel your frustration. I have looked into rental cars extensively and I believe the bottom line is that it is going to cost you twice as much for a rental car as you might pay in the U.S. Everyone gives lots of reasons for this and I really don't know what is real. I am renting a car for two months this coming Winter, admididly during high season. I have accepted that a small car will cost me between $850 to $900 per month with a $400 deductible with a reputable company. I don't think you can do better.

I am looking to spend 2 month next winter in Gorgona. Would love to spend less on a car rental the the cost of our accommodations! Any specific suggestions for a car rental late Dec through February would be greatly appreciated.

I will be coming to Panama on Jan. 10 and staying in Gorgona at Bahia. I was wondering if the Highway turnoff to Gorgona or Nuveva Gorgona is clearly marked or will I need to rent a GPS along with my rental car? Any tips are greatly appreciated.
