China: who is looking for health insurance?:

Hello my fellow expatriates. Let me first introduce myself. My name is Kai Poepplau and I myself have been an expatriate for the last 6 years. I`m german but have lived in the US since 1996 and just recently moved to Shanghai. Because of my background and my current situation I fully understand the importance of adequate health insurance and financial services for people living overseas. Therefore I`m aware of how important this issue is for everybody who considers taking an assignment overseas. I personally work for GBG/Tiecare international, a company that provides insurance and financial services exclusively for expatriates. I know that you have been approached before and that it all sounds the same, but it is no coincidence that we have been in the business for more than 2 decades and that we can proudly say that we have a 60% market share of all US schools overseas and thousands of corporate clients worldwide. In Shanghai for example we provide our service to the staff of the Shanghai American School, Concordia School, Changning International School, Yew Chung International School, Hewitt associates, GE china, just to name a few. We believe that in order to attract qualified employees an employer must be able to provide excellent coverage and benefits at a competitive price. Or if the company does not provide coverage you should be at least aware of what options are out there. Since we are the only company that has local offices in china we are able to claim that we have more experience than anybody else and that our customer service is only a call away. If you would like some further information in regards of what we do, who we are, and what our coverage consists of please let me know so I can provide you with the appropriate material. Since comparison should be in your interest I hope to get the chance to compare our products and services with your existing coverage. I`m looking forward to hear from you, until then my best regards you can contact me under kaip@gbgi.net or kpoepplau@yahoo.de

Hello Bill. My name is Kai and I guess you can say we were almost neighbors when I lived in the US. I lived in Redondo Beach. Originally I`m german and the last 6 years I stayed in the US and now I`m in Shanghai. I would suggest a couple of interesting webpages. www.expatsh.com/www.expatsinchina.com/www.friedlnet.com/www.escapeartist.com/www.asiaxpat.com/www.chinanow.com/ Also I think Hewitt Associates is agood place to start I know that they have an office here in Shanghai. Good luck finding something. I think in Shanghai you will have the biggest chance. This city is really booming and there is no end in sight. You should really take a look at Shanghai. I certainly was really surprised and everybody says this will be the New York of Asia. By the way if you interested in good health insurance I can definetely help you. I work for a company that specializes on expatriates only. We are an american company and have offices worldwide. It is definetely worth to compare with you present plan. Just e-mail me if you have any questions, regardless if it is about shanghai or insurance. kaip@gbgi.net or kpoepplau@yahoo.com Take care kai

China: Moving to Beijing in Summer 02:

Hey Jay Seems like you live close to my hometown Hamburg in Germany. My name is Kai and I currently live in Shanghai. By the way I heard that Shanghai is a lot nicer than Beijing, but I guess that is not up to you. In regards to dogs I can only speak about my experience here in Shanghai. Here you will find very few big dogs and there are a lot of restrictions when it comes to what you can do with your dogs and where. In Shanghai you can pretty much buy everything that you can get in europe or the states. Furniture I would suggest you put in storage. Almost everything in this country is dirtcheap.I think the more you bring the more headache you will have. Usually you can get appartements and houses unfurnished and furnished. That is all a matter of your allowance or budget. My experience is that you can live very reasonable and save money or you can live very luxurious but you pay your ass off. Very nice thing is that everybody has a maid and that they are really cheap.Trust me as soon as you come to china you will meet the expat community and they will all tell you about everything. As I said this is my experience from Shanghai but I assume it is similar in Beijing. If you need some advice on Health insurance I can definetely help you since I work for an american company that specializes in insurance for expatriates. We have offices in Beijing and Shanghai and it is definetely worth to compare our plan with yur excisting coverage. If you have questions let me know. kaip@gbgi.net or kpoepplau@yahoo.de take care and see you in china
