Czech Republic: cost of living:
Hi,
I would like to spend a few months in Prauge to finish a writing project and was wondering if anyone could offer any information about cost of living. I lived in Warsaw a few years ago and rented an apartment for about $400/mo. If anyone is interested in a temporary flatmate (I'm flexible - 3-6 months. I have family living in Bratislava, so I may be spending time there also) I would also be open to sharing a flat. I'm in my 30's and easy to get along with. Love Central Europe.
I taught English for 3 1/2 years in Poland when I went over there in '91. Since then, many more British an Americans were looking for teaching jobs, so private lessons and schools had less to offer. I'm not sure if I want to teach English, but I'm curious if it's worth trying to offer private lessons, so if anyone knows if this is something that is not too difficult to find, I'd appreciate any info.
Thanks
Penny
Slovak Republic: Moving to Bratislava:
Hi,
I'm planning to move to Bratislava in the near future and was wondering if anyone could tell me if it is difficult to find apartments and what the price range might be for an average size one bedroom apartment, or if it is uncommon to rent a room and share an apartment. I would like to finish working on a writing assignment for a few months while I am there, and I haven't decided if I will just support myself with my savings for a while, or if I will try to teach English while I'm there.
I taught English at a university for 3 1/2 years in Poland a few years ago, but I'm not certified and wondered if there are any English teachers out there, if you know if it is possible to teach now without TESOL or other certification (I have a BA and secondary school teaching certification).
I would like to talk to anyone out there - I would like to say more, but I've got to rush at the moment.
THANKS,
Penny
Czech Republic: housing in Prague:
Hi, I saw part of an old note posted in August regarding housing, and I wondered if you could tell me what the average cost of living in Prague is. I'm looking into living there or Bratislava while I'm working on a writing project. There is no network for Slovak Republic for some reason, so I thought I'd check here. I taught English in Warsaw '91-' 95 and love Central Europe. How long have you lived there? (I'm at the library and they're asking me to log off, so I've got to run) Thanks for your time.
