Ecuador: Apartment and roomate in Quito:

Hi all, I was able to land a job teaching English to Ecuadorian pilots at an institute called EIL in Quito. Has anyone ever heard of this institute? Also, anyone know of anybody needing a gringo roomate or know of any furnished 1 bedroom apartments for rent? As always, any help is appreciated. Thanks

Ecuador: Tungurahua:

Man, last May I sat in a little town between Riobamba and Baños and watched the Tungurahua erupt. One of the most beautiful things I have ever seen. I also tried to walk the old road from Riobamba to Baños (which was destroyed by the Tungurahua 10 years ago maybe?) in September of 2009. Ended up getting lost out there with my girlfriend, but what an experience it was. Nothing but volcanic rock and ash for miles and miles. Destroyed villages completely vacant. We climbed a small mountain the next morning after being lost for nearly 18 hours and stared the Tungurahua in the face. We were probably one mile from the base of the then sleeping beast. I wish I hadn't broken my camera so I could have shared a picture with you all. Most amazing thing I have ever seen.

Even if you do need an Rx, a doctors visit wouldn't cost more than $20 or so.

Ecuador: immunizations:

hey marciaz. Before I went to Ecuador the first time, I had typhoid pills, malaria pills, hepatitis, rabis, yellow fever immunizations and i can't even remember what else. It was VERY expensive. My coworkers didn't go nearly that extreme with immunizations. I would suggest the Hep vaccine for sure. I have yet to hear stories of someone getting malaria in Ecuador, though if you're heading to Esmeraldas, I believe that's where malaria still exists. The pharmacies in ecuador have good medicine for these common types of illnesses for cheap. I'm with vandtor, if you feel the need, buy the medicine in Ecuador

Ecuador: Requirements for Real Estate investor visa:

Thanks for the response Penguin. I figured that would be the case. I don't see why he can't enter Ecuador on a 12-IX visa and buy some more property if he wants to stay. I'll certainly pass the info along to him. Thanks again
