Panama: Is Panama the place to live:
If you are coming to Panama in April, we have apartments available then as some folks are leaving and heading back to North America. We are in Boquete, and this is the correct spelling. 150K is plenty of dollars to buying something nice here. Not extreme of course, but certainly a nice place. I just sold my friends place for $120k so you just missed that one. 3 bedroom, huge with pool. E-mail me at radioboquete@gmail.com and I can tell you more. jT

Panama: Panamanian Credit Union reliability?:
Be careful of denuncia's in Panama. Saying bad things about companies, in the public in Panama could come back to bite you. It's not like in the US where you can bash your government or people and get away with it. As for Credit Unions, if you want proper information, e-mail me at radioboquete@gmail.com and I will set you straight. Yes, there are bad companies out there in Panama, but there are no bad Credit Unions......jT
Panama: Expats in el Cangrejo:
El Cangrejo is one of my favourite spots in Panama City. Every chance in the city to visit, I do so. There is a radio show in Panama City for expats. I am not sure the day but you can log in here. http://bit.ly/sGjcrp
You need to have a Credit Card or a Pay Pal account. It is $7.95 a month and is a world of information about expat living. It's live 12 hours a day, and they re-broadcast at night, and it's all over the world on the internet radio. You get 14 days free to check it out. I have a Panama show every Thursday, Panama Time, and we talk about Boquete and Chiriqui mostly, unless it relates to Panama City, which most things do. E-mail me anytime at radioboquete@gmail.com and I would like to join you folks for a coffee or two in the city. And if you are coming to Boquete, drop in and say hello and have a coffee here. Best coffee beans in all of Panama are grown here in Boquete......Cheers. Jim
Panama: Need the names of banks:
I have spent close to two years studying banks and credit unions. With hundreds of banks and credit unions in Panama, it has been quite a chore, and it has become my hobby turned to advisory position. I don't charge for my knowledge, but only serious enquiries please. E-mail me at panamajames@gmail.com and you can also visit a website www.panama-boquete.com if you are thinking of coming to Chiriqui to vacation and stay awhile. All the best with your banking endeavours......jT
Panama: Fact finding trip to Panama:

Panama: food across Panama:
Ask for Tipico restaurants if you want to save money on food. I have a 40 cent coffee that used to be 25 cents last year, and a nice meal for $2, your basic rice, beans and meat, such as chicken, pork or beef. I figure breakfast at $1.00, lunch at $1.50 and dinner at $2, if you find all the right places. Restaurante El Sabroson in Boquete has great prices. If you are staying in Boquete, check out www.panama-boquete.com and if you need some personalized service, e-mail me at panamajames@gmail.com Thanks.........jT
Panama: Car Rental Suggestions:
Avoid Avis like the plague. I had an experience there at the David airport with some expats yesterday that was absolutely horrific. They drove from Panama City to David and wanted to drop off the car. They were charged an extra $180. They tried to charge them $250 extra for returning the car, one day early. Then when the people said that they would bring the car back tomorrow, they said they already closed out the contract. They then wanted $400 to open the contract. They were essentially doing their best to rip off these poor folks. I couldn't believe what I was happening. I had to intervene and try and shame these girls at the counter for what they were trying to do to these folks who had just entered Panama.......Their solution at the end was to sign a blank form and a supervisor in Panama City would handle it. Absolutely do not sign a blank form and expect that someone like Avis will cut you a good deal. Avis...in Panama, you suck. Thanks
