Mexico: Effects of policies of new administration on lives of expats living in Mexico?:

I've seen ZERO effects from the policies of the new president in the USA on my life here in Mexico. I do not expect to see any in the future either. Many Mexicans (legal or illegal) likely will have more jobs in the USA as a result of rebuilding the failing infrastructure across the USA and yes, even the proposed "wall". Mexico protects it's borders from illegals entering. That's what governments are supposed to do.

Mexico: Lake Chapala:

Rents in Chapala (the city) start at about $300 USD a month for a furnished 2 bed 1 or 2 bath unit. You pay telephone and internet, Water is included. may or may not have off street parking. May have a shared pool. Walk to shopping. Bus line a couple of blocks away

Mexico: Ripped off in Chapala:

Your message is certainly not unique to Chapala, or Mexico, It could just as correctly be applied to the USA or Canada or almost any place in the world. The Lake Chapala area has a better year around climate than San MIguel, Easier walking in the towns and villages. We have a beautiful lake for temperature moderation. Not to cold. Not to hot ever. Rainy season bring refreshing night rains. Everything from Mom and Pop shops to A large WalMart in the area. 127 Restaurants listed in our local English language telephone directory, Very international with about 65 or so nationalities represented, San Miguel's a great place to visit, Lake Chapala is a great place to Live. Hi , You did not say where in Mexico you will be moving, The going rate for help varies from location to location, here at Lake Chapala we have agencies that help find domestic help , KEEP a RECORD, Have the person being paid sign for their wages and date each time, Get the local rules on paying them for vacation and holidays. Best never to loan money against future wages, If you do so , Write out in Spanish the amount of the load and how it will be paid back, Keep records.
