Mexico: Kitty litter:
They have in all the Soriana stores, purple bag, about 50 pesos. Also in Aurerra Bodega in Guadalajara.
I never had a problem finding it when I lived there.
Mexico: Int'l. travel ban for in-cabin pets - to/from Mexico:
So, I can't believe no one has brought this topic up.
What do you all think about this insane travel ban on in-cabin pets to/from Mexico??? I would like to know what your thoughts are. So far, I have seen several thousand comments from people either here or wanting to travel here 'cause they have a house or want to vacation here this summer and bring their pets!.....and now they can't! And with the heat embargo, they can't travel AT ALL until Sept.! This is outrageous and many of us are upset. What do you think? Airlines' fault? Or Mexican policy? Anyone have any solid information? Because most of us on other threads and sites are having a hard time getting a straight answer from anyone, both at the airlines and govt. depts. in Mexico (tourism, consulates, embassies, etc.) Please weigh in.
Mexico: Planning to move to Mexico:
Hi, when are you planning on moving? Because right now, if you are thinking of flying, you won't be able to bring a dog into Mexico. There are bans on all in-cabin traveling for all airlines. But if you travel by plane and your dog would be in cargo, no problem. If you're driving, don't worry about it. But you need rabies vaccine, a health check certificate from you vet stating your dog is healthy, and very important: he needs to show that he got anti-parasite meds, like deworming meds. (My cat got a syringe of s/thing liquid.) That all has to be on the paper from the vet for Customs to clear your dog. Good luck.
Mexico: going to be moving to gdl this summer..:
I lived and worked in GDL for 14 months, teaching English in a language school. I made plenty of money, but we didn't get benefits, except for the occasional paid holiday. Sometimes we could get paid 120 pesos/hour working a business contract. I also got
100-120/hour from my private students who were doctors. We got 85 pesos/hour for private students in the school, and up to 60/hour for regular, 2 hour conversation or grammar classes. You will need your TEFL or TESOL and having a work Visa (FM3) doesn't hurt, but my school did the paperwork for me (for a fee, of course), but I'm valid now until next Feb. You can survive just fine in GDL working at an English school, as there are literally hundreds to work in. Good luck!
Mexico: Looking for Native English Teachers:
Jesse, you don't have any English school or teaching connections in Guanajuato, Guanajuato do you? (I am thinking of moving there, but the job situation has been told as bleak and making 40-50 pesos an hour. OUCH.) How about GDL? I live in GDL now and have been teaching over a year and only make 60 pesos/hour, but more with privates and business. However, I make 120 with my own privates. Anyway, are you looking for any teachers in this area? Or are you in DF? Thanks, Brenda in GDL
Mexico: English schools and living in Guanaguato?:
I would appreciate any info on living in Gjo and any schools that have native English teachers working there. I'm probably moving there in a few months and although I've sent my resume to a couple of schools, I haven't found much. I can't wait to visit. It sounds and looks (pictures my roommate took) wonderful.
Thanks for advice/info!!!
Mexico: Colima or Guanajuato??:
Hi folks, TESOL trained, teaching English in Guadalajara for a year now, it's just too big, noisy, dirty.....I need a smaller city that has some pretty nature to look at. I know they're not big towns, but as far as your likes/dislikes of Colima or Guanajuato, what are your preferences? Also, any contacts on job prospects? I don't need to be rich, just wanna be more at peace. I'm visiting Colima beginning of Feb. (my former roomie from Alaska moved there last Oct.) to check out the town and see if I'd like to live there. Gotta get out of GDL, it's really stressing me out. Any advice is appreciated!!! Gracias! Gringa Brenda
Mexico: Where to live in Mexico:
I felt exactly the same way about 3 yrs. ago. I came back from Mexico and decided to try and figure out a way I could live here, not just visit once/twice a year. I scoured the Net and discovered teaching English was all over not only Mexico, but South and Central America. But I wanted to get to Mexico. So tired of high prices for EVERYTHING in the US, rude people, boredom, horrible weather.....and the list goes on. I was in a major rut. Two yrs. later I made it here, am teaching English, surviving quite nicely (I'm 44, by the way, when I moved here, was 43, been in GDL for a year now). I am moving to Guanajuato next month, first to take some more Spanish classes for 3 wks., then look for a teaching position. GDL is too loud, big and dirty for me. Gjo is much smaller, charming and very European. I'm burned out here, but in a different way than I was in the States. Now I'm debt free and only have to worry about paying my rent. Oh, and I brought a pet with me, and the vet care here is fantastic. My ex-roomie had extensive dental work done and was very pleased, and it was a fraction of the pricing in the States. I think I could be VERY happy here, I just need a quieter, smaller location. I hope you get outta Reno! It sounds awful!! I came from Milwaukee, WIS and there is a LOT of crime there. Good riddance!
Mexico: ?? Cualquier mujer quiere conocer gran tipo en Colima? Any woman want to meet great guy in Colima??:
How do you like Colima? I'm thinking of moving there myself in a few months. Any advice/pointers would be appreciated. I'm an English teacher, and only 44, so need to work a bit. Thanks! Gracias!! :)
