Kuwait: Visitor Visa:

Hi, Firstly there are no negative repercussions for not actually using the visa that was issued. This actually happens all the time (including to my family members). You cannot get the visa extended but will need to request a new one. I would suggest that when you apply for a new visa you include a note to explain why you did not use the previous one as this will provide an understanding to the issuing office. Rgds JM

Kuwait: Maid rooms:

The quick answer to your question is "Probably not". I live on the first floor of a villa which is 4000 square feet (my floor, not the villa). There is a maids room in my flat which measures 7 feet by 10 feet. I would suggest that you get the diimensions of all the rooms before you call a 3 with a maids room a 4 bedroom. You might be able to use a smaller one as a nursery but that's about it.

Kuwait: Broadband, high speed Internet access services?:

You are not going to get the speeds that you see in the US, Canada or Europe but they can be OK. I have a 3mbps connection over optical fibre. It is unlimited downloads. The annual cost is KD225 so about US65 per month. In 3 years no downtime as they have a dual link to the backbone in and out of Kuwait. oh. Its Fastelco.

Kuwait: Clay pigeon (target) shooting in Kuwait?:

There is a hunting and equestrian club here but that is primarily for target practice. i have a Kuwaiti friend who shoots skeet but he does it out in the desert with a group of friends. they have their own equipment and go out for the day.

Kuwait: Medical care question:

Hi, I was in to see my doctor yesterday and so i asked her your question. She said that it would not be a big thing. She would want to see your existing prescriptions and also an attested letter from your attending physician with regards the condition and the purpose/need for the medication. rgds Mark

Kuwait: Feedback about living in kuwait city:

Hi. I'm Canadian so can speak somewhat to what you might find here. SAFETY Absolutely no issue. Again remember however that Kuwait is like any other big city in the world - there are places you do not go (especially at night...). As yet i have never been accosted or had something happen. SOCIAL SCENE On this issue I have to admit I am a bit of a loner but when I want to do stuff I never have a problem getting with a group; whether they are expats or local. You absolutely need to join one of the "clubs" like at the Hilton or elsewhere. There are no bars or dance clubs so that scene is out but other than that there is lots to do. OTHER THINGS You know the saying "the customer is always right"? Substitute Kuwaiti for customer. I had a car accident. A kuwaiti lady hit me from behind in a round-about. She was clearly in the wrong but the Police wrote it up that i was at fault so she could claim on insurance as not at fault. Buying stuff from home? Other than pork products and alcohol everything else is available. There are only one or two bookstores but the selection is good. In the main it is expensive here but with no tax and gas costing 20 cents a litre the net result is that you still end up saving. If you have any specific questions let me know Mark

Kuwait: Customs:

Hi, I live and work here as an expat and go in and out all the time on work and on vacation. I have only had them go through my luggage once. I had a bottle of olive oil that looked like a wine bottle and it came up on the x-ray. they even opened the bottle to taste it. Kind of funny really. As to the going through your laptop? Never heard of it and never seen it happening. I carry my laptop all the time, an iPad, a Playbook and more electronics than you can shake a stick at. Don't sweat it. P.S. What's illegal wherever you are is illegal here.

Kuwait: Joining a Diving/Boating Club:

Hi, I dive with Poseidon which is a smaller SDI club. A US couple runs it. They run dive trips on Fridays and Saturdays and the cost is KD25 per person each trip which includes gear. You can drop DeAnne Davis a note at zendiver.3d@gmail.com Mark

Kuwait: Buying Kuwaiti Currency:

Hi there, Yes they do take CAD at the airport exchange counters so there is no problem there. Just do not bring in a whole stack of it. They might ask....

Kuwait: Female freinds in Kuwait:
