Australia: Experienced house-sitters available in Canberra:

Hi! If you're planning to be away from your home in Canberra for a couple of months, you may want to get a housesitter to water the plants, ensure security and collect your mail. My husband and I have cared for homes in the USA, Australia, and India, so we are extremely experienced. I can provide references, and we generally like to meet up personally and have a chat to make sure the situation is a good fit for everyone. We are having trouble finding a short-term lease in Canberra so are hoping to trade our house-sitting services for accommodation. If this sounds like you, please do contact us! Best, Antonia

Australia: over 50 advice for defacto spouse:

Is your girlfriend Australian? In that case you'd just need a partner visa for yourself. If not, what sort of job skills do either of you have? Just trying to get an idea of your specific situation as there are many different kinds of visas, and the first thing to do is figure out what kind is the best fit for you. Australia: Visa for Australia which one how to apply best:

Hi lafisk, I received a visa for Australia a few months ago. Mine is a partner visa so the rules and regulations are a little different, but I'll share what I know. 1) I was approved for my visa within 9 months without the help of an agency (would have been less if I'd been a bit more organized!). I would be VERY wary of what agencies tell you as their bottom line is to make a profit. Not saying not to use one - just do your research to confirm that they're reputable. 2) You do NOT need to be sponsored by an employer to apply for and receive the skilled migration visa - this page explains: http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/general-skilled-migration/ 3) I found the visa application process to be complex and occasionally frustrating. However, the immigration office is generally very helpful if you contact them directly. If possible, give them a call and ask them your questions. It is much easier and quicker than trawling the internet for info. Don't be afraid to call them several times either - they are there to help you! Hope this helps. Very best of luck with your visa application. Australia is a lovely place to live and very welcoming. Best, Antonia www.anomadslot.com
