Colombia: Some coming, others going (part 2):

SunsetSteve, I do not live in Medellin or any big city. But I do live in Colombia and have for the past 10 years. Big cities have their advantage but are not to my taste. Have traveled and lived in more countries then I can remember. I live on a Colombian Island 400 miles of the coast of Colombia. We have two very distinct cultures living here. One the original native population who where brought here by the Puritans as slaves. and the Colombians from the mainland. The original native people consider themselves as Raizals first with Creole English as there native laugage and Colombians and Spanish second. We have a small amount of crime, 80F weather all year clean sea, and friendly people , We have are own Governor and are not required to follow several of the laws that apply to the mainland. We are a tourist Island but have many places that tourist will never get to visit. Life is slow. I fish, dive and just hang out. If you live like a Native costs are low. We are a duty free Island so single malt whiskey sea food and fruit are cheap Many fruits are free from the bush. Not the life style for all but for me paradise. Just a different view on Colombia..

Colombia: Least visited countries:

(Different strokes for different folks) Was born on an Island . Have been living on San Andres for almost 10 years. Have never been more content and happy in my life will die here and never miss one day of a big city. Sun everyday sea warm, cheap fish lobster crab, No taxes no import tax. Cheap whiskey. Beautiful women. Very little crime. But that is what I like others may not.

Colombia: Where are you from ?:

Interested to hear opinions on the question asked by Colombians.: Where are you from? Do you answer with where you were born or the last place you lived or were you have citizenship?

Colombia: San Andres Island vacation advice:

LaPiranha is correct but for one thing Morgan The Pirate (Who was a Privater not a Pirate hired by the British under contract. Big difference) never set foot on San Andres as there is no written Record . The so called Morgans cave is a tourist trap with locals dressed as Hollywood Pirates. Fun for children. Morgan did established a fort on Old Providence and raided Spanish ships coming from the mainland. He later was appointed by the British as Governor of Jamaica.

Colombia: Whats to Like about Colombia?:

San Andres Isla

Colombia: importing a used car:

I don't believe you can import a used car to Colombia. You can import one new. The only place I know in Colombia that you can import a used car truck or motorcycle is San Andres Island. But the carl cannot be more then 5 years old. .

Colombia: Moving with Child:

Small children will adapt quickly to any new language. Speaking Afrikaans will neither help or hinder her. She will learn Spanish quicker then you. Good luck with your new adventure and welcome to Colombia.
