Philippines: Need help selling my beauitiful home:
ACE/all,
I visited Emmett's website. Pictures of the house is there; pretty much as he described. Although, I do not know the area, but from I have read/understand of that area....I too think his asking price is a bit much. He still needs to add more angles shots of his house to his site....Getting upset that all don't jump on the bandwagon because you have what you describe das an urgent matter is a strech at best....JLR
Philippines: Living in Angeles:
ACE: Again thanks. To aid in validating my family position I will say...I get in trouble on a daily basis for something, nervous eye-twitches get me in trouble at times. Currently, I have very close friends with families that live in the Angles/Clark area. They will assist in our hunt as well. I am looking more for a house instead of apartment living. Yea, on our last visit we traveled through Fields avenue...WoW reminded me of the many places that I visited after 28 years in uniform! I know anything is possible but I am very comfortable with my marriage and my wife is very comfortable with where ever we live. We don't get too excited by nonsense and drama or pole dancers. Currently, we live on Okinawa, Japan and neither are naïve. I understand the imbalance in financial classes of the Philippines populace, basically no middle class. Unlike most stereotypical description of the Philippine extended family we are fortunate that our [my wife's] family are not hangers on with hand out at every turn - we have been married for over 7 years I know them very well, and they know as my family in the U.S. know. I am not the money tree, and all who helps themselves possibly can receive help....will be looking at some of the gated communities for either reasonable size house (200sqm) or lot (300 +sqm) for home building. Also, will be looking for International or Private schools. Trying to stay as far from Manila as possible, but not too far to get there with reality ease (I know it's the PI) but at least I will have the expressway to travel. Planning on applying for the 13a visa about 6 months prior to actually permanent travel. I enjoy reading all feedback....
Philippines: BMW Lady:
I read the information on this site daily and I am looking for the survival TIPS provided from experience folks... CONCUR wholeheartedly with ACE...I am financially secure and happily married to a Filipina. WHEN/IF we move to the PI, I, as a foreigner want to hear about existing challenges. Not the rants of in-depth personal matters; each of us handle those situations differently. Thanks to all who post insightful survival TIPS. With that said, we are considering the Clark/Angeles City area to reside - any food for thought? I understand about the looksee advice. I am retired U.S. military and wiIl be retired U.S. civilian so living in and around like minded individuals MAY be a comfort thing, and I am not looking at reinventing the wheel (they have the broken the code on most challenges). I have been to the Philippines on a few occasions and we plan to be there in December. My wife is from Bulacan. Even though sometime painful reading - the information you provide on sites as this is valuable. Keep up the good work...
Philippines: Can U.S. Vets Get Federal Medical Program Care In Cebu or something comparable?:
markgottawinner,
A lot of your questions will be answered once you registered with the VA in Manila. There is a floating list of care providers for areas throughout the Phillipines that also takes Tri-care . Also, you may not be able to use the FMS program in the Philippines, because there is a VA hospital in-country.

Philippines: Which one is best option?:
I haven been told that you can rent/lease land for 25 years with another 25 year option. May be worth investigating.
Philippines: Getting V.A. authorization for medical asisatnce in Cebu:
VA Manila take care of more the PI ww2 vets. I know I have been seen there - 100% vet - referred to appropriate care provider for my condition; also another none 100% American Vets have been seen there. Just had a comrade return to Japan after seeing a Dr at the VA/P.I. - no complaint about the care.

garywigle - it is refreshing to read what appers to be unfilitered truths! Thanks. I am mulling over moving to the Philippines as well, my wife is philipina from Bulacan - I was wondering can anyone provide insight on living in an expat community or anywhere as for security, quality of life, and what most of us want piece of mine. I have NO plans on working - I am retired US military, but I do not want to get to far away from the best the PI can offer especially schools, hospitals, the Arts. my wife does not care if we move to the PI or the states. The curiousity in me want to try to live there. but from what I read it may be a pipe dream. I have met her family and believe it or not they are not gold diggers. oh, we have been together for 8 years and married for 5 years - just recently we had our new baby boy. Not rich, but not poor either - we have been blessed.

Philippines: Health plans for expats:
CAteacher,
You may want to check throughly c/o Medicare
Medicaid.
'If you are living outside of the United States at that time, you should contact the Foreign Service Post which is normally located at the American Embassy to enroll in Medicare. Note: Medicare doesn't pay for services outside the United States, except for some emergency situations in Mexico and Canada. The Medicare regulations define the United States as the 50 States, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, American Samoa, the Northern Mariana Islands, and for purposes of services rendered onboard ship, the territorial waters adjoining the land areas of the United States".
