Brazil: GIVING UP BRAZIL. RETURNING TO THE US:

Hell, let him go, you don't want people like that in Brazil. Beside he is a teacher who will fill those little minds with crap. You should be glad he is leaving. Not castisint him. BillHasty

Brazil: Fortalaza:

Well said, Andy Neil, The attitude of that person is dispicable. We all have likes and dislikes in life, but some folks take it to the edge of "Sick". There is a lot of tht attitude in the states, and no government owes anyone a living. Get off your lazy bum and go to work. billhasty

Brazil: Retiring in Brazil:

YES! Unless you live in Rio or S.Paulo. Some of the other cities in Brazil, are much more cost effective. However both of the above can be good but it takes time to know how and where to shop. COL is similar to the USA. Be careful when shopping. It will take time to become familiar with products and quality. If it is in the US or europe, it is likely in Brazil. It is very cosmopolitan and international. There are no slow cookers in Braz. and some other dumb things like that. No big deal. GOOD Luck. (You will need a little of that too.) Brazil: Living in Brazil make a living on the internet:

Brazil: Fed Up With U.S.A. ...Ready To Move...:

your advise is profoundly correct. No substitue for a plan. Brazil is a great country and getting better all the time. I suggest you get a good grip on the Portauese, and then go and take a look. I am an american married to a Brazilara, and I like brazil better than her. Funny Hun? Not really, I have 30+ years living outside the USA and it helps to blend into the culture, and try hard to speak Portugues. They give you more respect and your life will be more fun. Also Try to connect with some one you you know and trust and life will be more fun and interesting. There is a large american community in Sao Paulo, but beware, they may be rather hauty, and arogant than would be helpful to you. DONT be the ugley AMERICAN. Be humble, ask for help, and enjoy Brazil, it is a growing, upand comming country with unlimited opportunities. Remember, enjoy life, its short. Bill Hastings. Reply direct if you wish. billnisamich@yahoo.com.

Brazil: Should I get married in the U.S. or Brazil:

If your used to lines and waiting in them, and waiting days or possibly weeks to get documents processed, you will be fine. The other reply indicated that it take time, and the buracuracy is very convaluted. Tips will expadite, but be careful with that. Smile, be sweet and take an extra load of patience with your morning coffee. You'll need it. I would also suggest small packets of good chocolate, discretly handed to the clerk, where ever you are working with gov't officials. Be careful though, and be very careful how it is given. I would suggest you leave it on the desk, and forget it if anyone says anything. Oh, discoupa ! (I'm sorry I forgot.). I once cost me $100 (US) for not having a yellow fever shot in Nigeria. Not funny, but it works. JUST BE CAREFUL, SELF EFACING, AND SMILE ! ! ! Remember, life is short, have fun and don't take everthing too serious. Bill Hastings.

Global Expat Forum: Pregnant woman looking for the best place in this world to move:

Hi, & Good Luck Try between Sao Paulo, south to Floronoplis, Weather is good, Folks are friendly, and prices about the same as northern USA. Not cheap, but good quality. Dress like they dress, try to be part of the fabric of Brasil, and don't be like the "ugly american". Common sence is the rule and guide. We have an appartment in Sao Paulo, was just there for 7 months, and loved it. Try to blend into the fabric of society. The Brazilians will love you and say HI to all and sundry. Good Luck. Bill Hastings.

Brazil: Move to Brazil / open a business in Brazil / I am looking for investors:

Hi, When your looking for investors, you need to be a lot more clear than your brief message. I suggest that you say what your trying to start. Few people will try to steal you idea. Bill Hastings.

Brazil: medical care:

Hi For the Dr. who responded. I did not mean to imply that the medical training in Brazil is inadequate. My apology. The Drs. that I am aquainted with were trained here and in the USA. That was the basis of my statement. I'm sure that you are a very competent Dr. Please accept my apology. And enjoy life, it is short. Bill Hastings.

Brazil: Moving To Sao Paulo:

Does anyone know a reliable, and good shipping company to move a small quantity of HHG to Sao Paulo. Any info on packing, moving, shipping, sea freight, handling in Santos, movement to Sao Paulo (mooca), etc. Cost, name of shipper, etc. Prefer persons with first hand knowledge. Fact not What you think !.
