Ivory Coast: at leisure for adventure:

Recently arrived in Abidjan with my husband who is here for a three year post. Living in Cocody Ambassades in a big house with a big car & driver, and not much to do. Looking for a similarly fixed woman with whom I can explore local markets, museums, go to the beach for the day, etc. Also looking for a good volunteer opportunity, preferably in the area of eye care - I was an ophthalmic tech in a previous life. Oh, and I'd like to find some kittens too (but that's a different post...) Hope to hear from someone - anyone - soon!

Ivory Coast: Looking for Kitten(s):

I moved to Abidjan last week, accompanying my husband on a three-year posting through his work. I left behind my two faithful feline companions, who were too old to make the trip comfortably, and I miss them terribly. Can anyone suggest where I might find kitties here? I know there are vets, and I see cat food in the stores... I just don't know how to find the animals themselves! Thanks for the help - Gremlin

Ivory Coast: Moving to Abidjan August 2010:

Welcome, Brenda! I've just moved to Abidjan myself and am also looking for interesting activities. I'm not a scuba diver, but I do love the beach... if the sun will ever come out here. I was told by a local gentleman yesterday that it will be out by October! I'm also eager to visit the museums in the area, and explore the local markets. The Hotel Ivoire is down the street a short distance from my home; they have something like 11 tennis courts, and I'm hoping to learn how to play. They also have a rather dreary, but sufficient, gym. I hope you and your canine companion are settling in nicely. If I hear of any interesting activities coming up, I'll be sure to post them here! Cheers - Leigh
