India: Moving with family and DOGS to Bangalore:
If you want to have the dogs return to Switzerland you should check the Quarantine laws in your country.
We had a dog we wanted to bring from Australia, but after checking the quarantine laws we learned that we would never be able to take the dog back to Australia. Some countries require a lenghty time in quarantine on return to your home country, other countried like Australia will not accept animals from countried like India except in exceptional circumstances.
It woud be devastating to find out that you could not take your dogs home with you.
India: Any info on Mangalore?:
We are currently expats in Andhra Pradesh but have just been asked to relocate to Mangalore. So far I have not been able to find out much about this city.
Any assistance would be appreciated.
India: Moving from New York to India???!!!:
I would recommend that before you marry your man you spend some time living in India. Only then will you know whether you can really handle it.
I'm an expat wife, we're Australian, living in rural India so if you want to email me for info please go ahead. My email addy is jenh@sify.com

India: Shopping in Chennai:
Thanks Josie. You've been a great help. I sent my husband off to Amma Nana and Spencer Plaza yesterday, he now has 3 large boxes of goods to lug back on the train with him tonight lol.
Thanks again.

India: Relocating to Vadodara (Baroda):
I know nothing about Baroda. I'm currently living in Andhra Pradesh in the south.
With your cat you really should check with the Canadian authorities regarding their laws. I know the Australian Quarantine authorities told me it was highly unlikely that an animal who had lived in India for any period of time would be allowed back into Australia.
That meant that we had to leave our beloved dog in Oz, and my kids still haven't forgiven me for it!
But it was either that or have it destroyed when we return.
Also you would need to think about the disease factor. If your cat goes outside your yard it could possibly pick up diseases of the cats here. I personally think that cats here are bad for that reason. At least a dog you can prevent from getting out, a cat is a bit harder.
Good luck.
India: Buying furniture etc in South India...:
We've just moved from Australia to a small city in Andhra Pradesh called Vijayawada .
We need to buy some large furniture items like beds, mattresses, stove.
Our nearest large cities are Hyderabad and Chennai so we will be going to either of these places for our shopping.
Can anyone recommend great shops in either of these cities?
Thanks
Jenni
