Ecuador: Safe Travel & Retirement:
I would like to visit Ecuador in June/July to check out a couple of possible retirement locations. My plan is to fly into Quito then immediately fly to Cuenca. Spend a couple of days checking out Cuenca then take a bus to Loja where I will spend several days. Following my Loja stay I will go to Vilacabamba for several days.
At this time, I am most interested in Loja and Vilacabamba as retirement locations. Is it safe for a female to make this trip alone? I have international travel experience, however never alone. I plan to take buses druing the day time and stay in mid-range hotels.
Are there any expat groups or people in Loja and Vilacabamba? If so, how would I reach out to them?
In addition, is there a "safe" tropical location either near the beach or inland that offers a good retirement option?
Thank you for your insights.
Nicaragua: Granada:
I plan a visit to Granada in May 2011 as I am interested in Granada as a retirement location. I am a single female and wondering about the safety of solo travel and living. I am an experienced traveler so I understand the basic 'rules of the road' regrading safety. Looking for specific information.
Also, any insights or experience retiring in Granada?
Ecuador: Movinng to Ecuador:
I plan to visit Ecuador this coming spring to tour the country looking for the ideal city/town for my retirement. Right now, I am most interested in Cuenca and Guayaquil. I read a lot about Cuenca and not much about life as an expat in Guayaquil. Any insights? How about names of attorneys proven to be honest, knowledgeable and helpful with visa and enrty/move assistance in these cities?
Thank you.
