About Tenera

All my life I have dreamt about spending the rest of my productive years in a warm climate. I am still hyper energetic and constantly looking for new ideas and ways of helping others. I am curious and passionate about the things that interest me. I am a workaholic. I have single-handedly supported my daughter who was born and is now studying graphic design in United Kingdom. I have windsurfed, sailed (my love affair with Martinique started n 1983 when I sailed from S. Lucia to Port au Prince), skied, played tennis and table tennis, drove in a ladies rally. I am passionate about healthy eating (that includes good wine and good cooking utensils) and love experimenting in the kitchen. I hoped Costa Rica would bring satisfaction bu where I live the days are damp and evenings too chilly. I have helped our local school with donations and thought English free of charge to children from poor families. But I am beginning to terribly miss a bit of culture: performing arts, museums, cultural events. And the happy memories of my stay in Martinique have begun to haunt me:-) In addition to Slovenian and Serbo Croat I am also fluent in English, Italian and Spanish and just need to brush up on my French.

Advice for New Expats

Just go for it. One can do a lot of research and still not know it all. I have always been happier jumping in at the deep end and living with the local rhythm. “A man is not old until his regrets take the place of his dreams”
