Dominican Republic is cheap, but there is no way two people can live here for $500. I have a 1 bedroom furnished apartment in Santiago with all bills included and I pay $270 month. I figure another $100 per week to eat/live on. The average salary is around $200 month.

I live in Santiago. I have a lawyer that can help you with the residency process. It cost $1,000 for the temp residency and another $1,000 (1 year later) for the permanent residency. You need to bring: Passport Birth Cert with Apostille Police Report with Apostille

Dominican Republic: Santiago apartment RENTAL:

I rented a furnished 1 bedroom apartment in santiago for 15,000 pesos ($400 us). The price includes electric, water and cable. Internet is an additional $15 us per month. She has another apartment for rent in the same building as mine for 12,000 pesos. Great location. Walking Distance to gym, stores and restaurants.

Dominican Republic: Stay in DR:

Tourist card is $10 us dollars and valid for 15 days. If you stay longer, you pay a fine at the airport, when leaving. I overstayed 2 years, the fine was $120 us. Its not expensive.
