India: moving to Chandigarh:

Bank cards are easy to use, just make sure you tell your Cnadian bank that you are going to be in India and for how long or you may find they won't permit transactions. The local beer is excellent. Import4ed beer is expensive and mostly not as good as the local stuff. Not sure what you mean by currency calculations. Your card transactions will be at around the spot rate plus a transaction fee. Pennies on the $. Dunno about Chandigarh, but there are usually expat hangouts.
