I feel I must respond to the statement " No safe place exist in Brasil for Gringos.". I'm an American living in Barbacena, Minas Gerais for three tears now. I've been in many different types of small businesses and bars alone and speaking very little Portuguese. I have always been made to feel welcome and have never felt "unsafe".
