Ecuador: Beware of biased information:

I've spent the day reading all of these blogs. It is all very interesting, to say the least. I could never imagine my parents who lived, worked, raised 5 kids, and died in the same home in Southern Missouri every doing anything like all of you who live in Ecuador or in that matter, anywhere else. It makes my heart feel good knowing that there are still pioneers out there in the world discovering new things in far away lands, learning a new language at over 60, walking all over creation because it's safer and healthier, bonding new relationships besides an occasional neighbor, giving back to the less fortunate, and finally, because this is the longest sentence I've ever written, LIVING! Blessed be all of you, for the Kingdom of Heaven is yours! "Risks," there are risks every day for every person, anywhere in the world. Most people that I have met or known in my life are afraid of "risk" and as a result-- are afraid of dying. A full life "lived" is a life "lived" in sincerity, more sincerity, and even more sincerity. Whether a person lives a full life in the same place or whether a person lives in a hundred places in one life, live life to the fullest. Love each other, respect each other, give back to each other in selfless dedicated service. Be a shining light in a world of seeming darkness. This is my first note on this site and I'm watching the movie "Glory," so... sorry if I'm getting a little dramatic. On a lighter note... How's the beer and wine in Ecuador? I don't want to visit or live in a place where the beer tastes like "Billy Beer" or the wine is of equal quality. I've lived in 38 places across the world (many indigenous) and my wife has slowly trained me to have higher standards of physical living. Sometimes it seems... I'm a little slow. We Airborne Rangers like it simple. A soft place to lay our heads, an occasional hot shower or bath, and some good friends to share some good grub. We've now lived in the same place for 13 years after retiring from the Army. I really miss those 27 years of traveling around the world, meeting new people, and the thrill of investigating new places. I envy you guys and gals in Ecuador. If anyone down their would like to host my wife, a 14 year old, and myself this summer (June/July) for 8 days, I'll buy the beer, wine, and grub (the good stuff) and treat you like a loving brother and sister!
