Some Forum Posts:

Philippines: Typhoons:

I am considering a move to Philippines or Thailand and the main problem I have with Philippines is the frequent typhoons (20 average per year). My question is how much of an effect do these storms have on expat lives on Palawan or Cebu?

Indonesia: Visiting Batam:

For anyone wanting to visit or live in Batam, Indonesia, there is an excellent FAQ document available at www.smilinghillbatam.com/FAQ. This downloadable PDF contains detailed information about travel to and within Batam, including required tariffs, ferry schedules from Singapore, weather, things to do and see, restaurants, hotels, nightlife and customs and culture to be aware of.

Greece: Rental in Athens:

I am currently living in Sicily until February and then plan to visit Greece for 3 months. I am in need of a 1-BR apartment, furnished, either in Athens or Nafplio. I am on retiree budget so can afford 300-350 euro/month, plus utilities. Any help is appreciated.

Ecuador: perpetual tourist:

I have been unable to find any information about this topic except that I'm allowed to stay in Ecuador for 90 days on my U.S. passport. Can you leave the country after 90 days and come right back in for another 90 days? If so, is there a limit on how many times you can do this?

Ecuador: Visits vs. moving:

Silverwater: Before I moved to Costa Rica last June I had no experience as an expat. I had only a smattering of Espanol. I had no friends here. Somehow I managed. Like I said before, if you're moving your household and family, and you have money to burn for extended visits, then do it. If you're like me - family grown, no debts, no home to sell and no money to burn - then just do your research and then jump on a plane. You are required to have a return ticket.
