Italy: I cant sell my house in Italy:

Fiji: Teaching English:

Hey there, Not a comment on your topic, but I am curious about you living on your boat! How cool is that. I have some other questions too,' Please email me at bpinmn@bizideo.tv Barbara

Fiji: you guys might remember me:

Hey Sean, I do rememebr you! It's Barbara from MN. Anyway, If I can find the article, I willl send it to you "where to live on under 500 per month in the world"

Fiji: Moving to Fiji from USA:

I lived in Fiji for about 6 weeks so cannot qualify for much advice but I am thinking of spending winters over there. Many people have paved the way for us! Good advice on these forums. Where are you moving from?>?

Fiji: Is Fiji for us?:

I really love Fiji so much. Since I have been there two times, I mentioned to my husband of 25 years I would like to retire there. Next winter me may go for a month just to check it out. Good luck with your choice. BP

Fiji: 22 and in need of a life:

Hey Sean, Well you would be living a dream! I did a similar thing back in the mid 80's (took a break from college. Long story shorty, I ended up staying on one of the outer island(at that time you could just hitch a ride on a boat) NOT advisable now? Anyway, I was in Fiji only for a month but it was LIFE CHANGING. Back in 2009, I brought my 15 and 16 yr old there. My son loved it, it was too hot /humid for my daughter. This sight has some pretty good advice, I check it often, Just like many countries, a lot of people base there opinions of Americans of what they see on tv. When we were there last we were pretty low pro and just walked around in typical Fiji Garb, Anyway, you would do fine, There is a HUGE expat community on Koro Island but and there are so many back back style places to stay cheap, My advice would be to stay at one of those places and link up with other young travelers.

Fiji: Any suggestions please!!:

Wow, I had a similar situation happen to me, not your condition but my body LOVED fiji, we ate a great diet, my nail and hair grew soooo much in the 2 weeks we were there. That was my second trip to fiji. I think I could live there. What is keeping you from moving to Fiji? Barbara

Fiji: Fiji: Brutally Boring:

Is it really that boring!' I have heard that SUVA is NOT the place to live. I do not require a lot but what the heck have you been doing an how long have you been there??? Barbara

Italy: Wanted: English speaking Friends:

Just wanted to send a note back to you:Gazelle, I was just talking to my two kids yesterday about being overseas for the holidays when you are an American and how it’s a bit strange when you are away from all that is familiar but if you have been in Italy since 2007- you are probably used to the holidays there now? It happened to me twice. Once when I was in Sri Lanka (HS exchange) over the 4th of July 1981 and then again in Fiji Islands during college for Thanksgiving- I think I had either fish or peanut butter on the menu- as I was on some outer islands staying with the local natives with a travel companion from Canada. My friends and family had no idea where I was at.- 20, carefree and not a care in the world. Recently, my family and I were supposed to spend 1 month in Italy- July of 2011- but My husband of 25 years was involved in a ATV rollover that nearly took his life- so the trip was cancelled as I continue to dream of Italy. I think in awe how an American can move abroad and seems that the Italians are set in their ways and from the International travel I have done many international trips and “Americans ” have a bad rep. (Trying to change that one trip at a time –lol-) with having the reputation of being rich, spoiled and ungrateful. Yesterday as we were eating a Thanksgiving meal, we were saying how many American kids now have cell Ipods/mp3 player, cell phones, and their own cars. I agree with you, the movies over exaggerate this as well. According to your post, it seems like you took on a challenge-you said: It just hasn't been nice for me. I grew up on Long Island, am a convert Jew, now turned atheist. I am mixed race and a college graduate. I love singing Jazz, am somewhat bohemian and an artist. Currently, I live in Livorno. If there is anyone into decorating, coffee, or chit chat, contact me. I am an non practicing catholic- my husband and I grew up in ‘extremely catholic homes: no more of that! I am spiritual just not connected to any religion-my son is a musician and just turned out a cd of all original songs www.willypelton.com I am ½ gypsy and recently took up belly dancing age 48! Well, I am not just next door to Livermore but I do LOVE coffee and if you need to vent just send and email to: bpinmn@mchsi.com I started writing a book last year based on a business textbook, it is a work in progress ? but my normal job is teaching technology to the mentally ill and dangerous (state hospital) Barbara

Fiji: How's the situation currently?:

Hello! Very cool you are writing a novel and Fiji is the place for that. I have been to Fiji and the longest times staying was for 2 months,. More people will probably write in who live there and it appears that there are some great expat communiies. The only advice I would give is to hook up with some trusted local that would take you around, When I was there last time, the young man working at our guest house had a cousin in Ohio so that link to the US made him want to be our host, one night he took us to a locall pub and we baught a round for the whole place whic cost us us 10.00 and we felt safe with him. As far as political unrest, I am not sure what the current situation is but I think its been pretty stable, Good luck with everything, Barbara
