Hi Picasso Your post was a real 'blast from the past'! I was at Mbeya school when the Governor visited - I remember a band playing - the first one I had ever seen! My father was also a DC at one time ( Jim Pearson) but working for CDC in the Mbeya area at the time the Governor visited so he would possibly have known your father but unfortunately as a child at school the 'grown ups' all looked alike to me. The only thing I can remember about the Governor himself was his very odd appearance - all in white. I have better memories of having special cake at afternoon tea and being glad he came because of it.
