Ecuador: looking for rental around Guayaquil or Playas:
We lived in Playas for 6 months. We rented two different houses. The first one was nice , in a quiet area just minutes from downtown area in Playas for $300 a month. The second one was confortable and nice as well, on Via Data one block from the beach for $200 a month.
Let me tell you that most house owners would rather have the house sitting on the market than having a tenant for just a few weeks.
Our biggest problem finding a place to rent was that you have to have a car or something since that you won't find a newspaper or flyer with local rentals; you just have to drive and drive around looking for signs on the houses.
If you are planning on visiting Playas for one week or weekends from Guayaquil, I'll recomend to you that a hostel by the beach will do it. The nicest place to stay in Playas is La Posada del Sueco, ( search for the website laposadadelsueco.com) owed by a swedish guy, very cool and the place is beautiful, clean and safe, you can walk to the centro along the beach or get a taxi for $1, the big plus with the place is that they have a taxi driver named Cesar, super reliable, we ended up using this guy for several errands including picking people up from the airport.
Please bear in mind that beaches are not as clean as we are used to here in the states , but other than that people is friendly and they try to tell you about all the places nearby to visit.
Have fun in Ecuador!
Mexico: good immigration lawyer anyone?:
Need some help finding a good immigration lawyer in Guayaquil.
We are currently in Playas and we are interested in a good option to start residency papers. I been told that the best option is to form a company with a 1% ecuadorian and you can get the papers in 3 months in Guayaquil.
Can anyone help please?
Thank you!
Ecuador Welcome Forum: MOVING IN A FEW MONTHS NEED REALISTIC RENT PRICES BY THE BEACH:
We are moving probably by July and I'm still not sure about "real" rent prices. What I mean is that when you go online I find much higher prices than the ones mentioned here in the forum.
We are looking beach area, between Salinas and Bahia, nice small simple town. We love simple live, actually is what we are looking for...
We need a house with 2 bedrooms since we have 2 boys, nothing fancy..
Could I please have some real numbers on this?
I have the impression that you have the gringo price online but if you go there and talk with people you'll find a different price.
BTW we have latino background so we speak Spanish fluently, I consider that a plus right?
Thanks to everyone!

I'm from Argentina and loved al the "Ferias" around the city.
I'll suggest you in Recoleta Plaza Francia.
It has everything that you can imagine, from stuff at $10 pesos to high end silver artesanias for hundreds of dollars.
I don't think u need a permit for that, but just stop by any weekend and ask one of the vendors.
U do need good spanish, we argentineas love to negociate prices.
Good luck!

Argentina: short term move...need advice!!:
I'm from there- BA-, and I'll think about other places to move and use your Spanish
First of all: is not hot, we do not have tropical weather and March and April is Fall already, is nice but no hot at all.
If you are going there for short term, you have to think where to stay, renting a place for a few months is almost impossible and if you go to an agency that manages international temporary rents, it'll be soo expensive.
Plus, sorry to tell you, but is not safe for a woman of your age to travel alone, I don't think is a good idea.
Lastly, may a suggest Ecuador? is waaayyyy cheaper ( Arg is more expensive than Europe I'll say)
There are a lot of English-speaking people in Ecuador and temporary rents are easier, PLUS IT IS TROPICAL WEATHER or at least almost eternal summer.
Good luck!
