Can I buy viagara type drugs over the counter in Kampala? Jerry

Jamaica: Budget hotels:

I travel at least 6 months a year and almost always stay in budget hotels. I have never been to Jamaica but in a quick search I’m finding very few if any budget hotels. I define for me a budget hotel as one that costs $40 US or less per night (usually less in countries with a cost of living like Jamaica), but also a hotel that has the basic amenities - private room with air con, double bed, ensuite bathroom with hot shower, cable tv, wifi. I hope to spend a month in Jamaica and I would like to spend 1 week each in 4 different areas of the country. The only one of those 4 areas I have decided on for sure is Port Morant. Otherwise I am open. Are there budget hotels in Jamaica? Or is there an alternative way to stay inexpensively there? Ideas and suggestions please. Thanks, Jerry

Ecuador: Personal safety in Ecuador:

Some may remember I had asked a question about taking the bus from Quito to Cuenca. I must say I am impressed with the number of replies I have received from this question. Too bad the answers were so concerning. Enough have said don't take the bus and no one is suggesting it is a good idea to rent a car, except that maybe it would be safer than the bus say some. From alll those replies I have decided that for my first visit I will fly both ways. Which leads me to this. I have read how great, warm and friendly the cities of Cuenca and Quito are. But the answers to the bus question have made me wonder if I hsould be concerned about my personal safety in general when in Ecuador. To describe what I mean more specifically, we all know there is no such thing as a safe country. There is much crime in the US. But I feel very safe in the US, except for some places that should be obvious to anyone whether they live in the US or not. So my question is not about if Ecuador is safe. Again, no country is. But I am visiting with the idea of moving there. If I lived in Ecuador would I feel safe llike I do in the US? Jerry

Colombia: Pensioner's Visa:

After much searching, it appears that sometime in the last 2 years the minimum monthly pension an expat wannabe needs to show to be approved for a Pensioner's visa changed from 10x the Colombian minimum wage to 3x the minimum wage. Also, as each website I visited shows a different amount for how much the minimum wage currently is, all of them were under the equivalent of $300 USD per month. So showing a minimum monthly pension of $900 should be a safe amount to qualify for the pensioners visa. If someone can confirm that, I would appreciate it. Thanks, Jerry

Kenya: Permanent residecy requirements:

I am a 61 year old US citizen who is becoming involved with a Kenyan woman. I have been searching without luck to find requirements for permanent residency based on both retirement and marriage. Can anyone help me with either of these? Thank you, Jerry

Ecuador: Taking the bus:

I will be visiting Ecuador for the first time in about 3 weeks - spending a week first in Quito and then a week in Cuenca. Flights from the US being much cheaper round trip to Quito, I was going to then fly domestically from Quito to Cuenca and back to Quito for my return flight to the US. But then I thought it would be a more fun idea to take a bus down to Cuenca and the fly back to Quito. That way I can see the countryside by both land and by air. So it would of course be a day trip by bus. My questions are - - Is there a bus service that someone might recommend? If possible, could you please include a phone # or link? I would have a large suitcase that I would want to store in the bottom of the bus and a backpack that I would keep with me on the bus. Am I correct to assume that the bus can accommodate that luggage arrangement? Is this something that I should book now from the US? Or is it fine to book it once I get to Quito since the bus trip would still be a week away? Lastly (for now), is a bus the right way to do this? I don't mind it being an 8-10 hour trip, and being the only foreigner on the bus is fine with me. That is as long as I can expect busses to be a safe way to travel for a foreigner? For me, the bus trip is not for cost savings even though that is a bonus - again it is for seeing the countryside between the 2 cities. So if the bus is not a good idea, what means of doing the trip from Quito to Cuenca by land would you recommend – car rental? Taxi? Thank you Jerry
