Mexico: Driving from Texas to Lake Chapala Area:
Just a reminder to NOT use credit cards at gas stations near the border. Never give your card to the guys who help fill your tank. We were taken for $10,000 in a month.
Mexico: scoping out Mérida:
Merida sounds perfect for you, especially if you don't mind heat. Summers are pretty hot and humid, I hear. Be sure to check out the internet speed when you look into a place to stay. It varies all over Merida, but they are in the process of upgrading. We loved it and will return in January.
Mexico: Merida:
Two great resources for expats to meet in Merida are the Intl Women's Club (http://iwcmerida.com/) and the English Language Library (http://www.meridaenglishlibrary.com/). Lots going on. Good luck!
Mexico: MERIDA:
It is easy to take a wonderful bus from the Cancun airport to Merida. You can chose to get off at several locations. Walk out of the airport, go past the tiki bar on the right and get tickets at the first little stand beyond the tiki bar. The cost is about US$40. The bus is air conditioned, and can get cold.
Mexico: Coming to Merida:
We will be visiting Merida for a look-see in Jan & Feb 2015. We're looking for a modest 1 br place with AC and high speed internet. Any help or guidance would be appreciated! Hope to meet some of you there then.
Mexico: Merida and the Yucatan for Retirement:
I hear Campeche is very nice and on the water. Nicer than Progresso.
Mexico: WARNING -Gas Station fraud!:
A Pemex gas station outside Laredo: CARR A MTY LAREDO KM 23.2
CIENEGA DE FLORES
used our credit card to charge over $4000 US in fradulent charges over 2 weeks. The guy pumping the gas wrote down our security code. It had to be worked out with the owner. Avoid this one!
Mexico: entering with prescription meds:
Do you have to enter MX in the "somthing to declare" line if you bring prescriptions?
Mexico: Climate in Mexico City, Puerto Vallarta, Cancun and Guadalajara..:
Have you considered Manzanillo, down the coast from Puerto Villarta? Sounds like the weather is pretty nice there. If you like diving, you might opt for the Carribbean.
Mexico: Need Anything?:
Hi Manzanillo expats: We are driving down for a few months in mid-December. If there are any small items you need and cannot get there, let us know. We'll be glad to bring them, space permitting. Really looking forward to our stay and meeting some of you!
