About Summersmist

I am retired from IBM Corp after 32 years. I have two grown, married sons. I am also a dog trainer and a volunteer with an animal rescue group. I honestly don't know how I can take anymore 100 plus degrees days. We had 72 straight days of over 100 degrees F. this summer. I plan to move to Cuenca in late 2012 or earlier if possible. Any other info on me will be by request.

Ecuador: Internet and sunshine on the coast:

I just looked at the weather forecast for Salinas for today and the rest of the week. It shows 72 degrees F all week. Is that pretty accurate? How I wish I were there. It's over 100+ degrees F in North Texas (Dallas area) all week and into next week, with humidity. Very hot.

Ecuador: Cuenca; man murdered, student shot:

Please read the articles that Susan included in her post. The incidents occured on the 22nd, not today. And there is NO mention of the victims being "gay". Starting rumors can be very damaging.

Ecuador: dog/cat round up along the coast:

Dumping the dogs and cats in the ocean is not acceptable I would like to dump the morons who would do that. If the animals have to be killed they could do it more humanely and without pain. And Dunmovn, I understand the problems that stray dogs can cause, but they still don't need to be treated cruelly! It's not their fault that they are strays! People who are that cruel and uncaring are "bottom feeders" and worse. As for opening a shelter, I just may do that when I get there.

Ecuador: Recent Gibberish on Ecuador & Earthquakes:

Hector, I subscribe to the USGS.Gov reports and receive information daily on volcanoes and earthquakes worldwide. They are a reliable source and give information and definitions of different activities such as a 4.6 earthquate is only a "medium size" quake but it goes into so much more than that like distance and depth, etc. So if anyone needs the "truth" of where the major volcanoes and earthquakes are in the world and how frequently they occur, they should check the USGS website.

Ecuador: Ecuador is at risk.:

Thank you, Scorpio11. Well said.

Ecuador: Too late to back out now:

Hummmm, gumbo! Sounds great.

Ecuador: Pet Adoption: Guayaquil:

Good luck, Susan. Are there any "animal shelters/dog pounds" in Ecuador? How would a person try to locate a pet that may have escaped from their home? I hope all the fur-babies get good homes.

Ecuador: Silverwater and P.M.s:

I have sent several notes to admin with no reply so I assume they didn't get the notes. I personally believe its more of a software problem than censorship. I also do not have an option anywhere to report abuse. No button or anything to use. How do I get that.

Ecuador: Bigfoot in Ecuador?:

Unbelieveable! Was this person really serious? Scary!

Ecuador: what rights?:

Thank you, Vandtor. You are correct. I believe its the case in most countries. Whether you are a resident or just a visitor, when in another country the US government can not assist you much. You are subject to the local laws in that country.
