Norway: I Wish I had Known... Before Moving to Norway:

After many miserable years of living in Norway, I`ve come to many conclusions. Here`s one thing I`ve noticed: Norwegians aren`t socialists by heart, they only vote red to insure the future of their beloved high taxes and their social medicine. But 90% are nationalistic, Nazi loving Aryans who hate everyone outside their borders. I know what I`m talking about. It`s called "brainwash", that`s what Norwegians are from an early age. But I didn`t allow myself to be indoctrinated. Norway is just another Soviet Union, except for higher standards of living. And I`m not conservative at all, it is my opposition to extreme racism, xenophobia and attitudes of supremacy that has shaped my eternal stand on Norway. And another thing I`ve noticed: Norwegians are very anti American. Why is this? I don`t know, but it probably has something to do with the fact that half the population of Norway fled their homeland 150 years ago to settle down in the USA. Just an observation: It seems to me that most Americans in general are more patriotic than the Norwegian/Americans are. Norwegian/Americans are "Norwegians" first and foremost, and then Americans secondly in my experience. Not very impressed with Norwegian/Americans, and I`m one myself. I`ve lived in Norway all my life, and I`ve been very unhappy here. Moving out of here in the near future, I`m very much looking forward to that. One other major thing I`ve noticed: Most of the foreigners who are impressed with Norway are those foreigners who haven`t actually visited or lived here(-: It`s no coincidence, I can tell you.

Norway: moving to Norway:

I`m a nurse and half Norwegian. We moved away from Norway last year. I have worked in Norway for a long time. I wouldn't trust the healthcare system in Norway, it varies a lot in quality. Many people I know feel they do not get proper medical attention, they feel like they`re brushed aside and not taken seriously. They almost feel bothersome and are virtually forced to leave the doctor`s office after a short consultation. Norway has one og the highest incidents of cancer in the world. Universal healthcare might sound good on paper, but I would never trust the Norwegian healthcare system with my life. In the US, you get thorough examinations involving scrutinizing tests to make sure of your health status. There are many hospitals and clinics in the US who will see patients without insurance for free. Medicaid cover a lot of low income groups, and for those over 65 we`ve got the equivalent to universal healthcare through medicare. I know many doctors who will do a consultation for 45 dollars. All you need is to be more attentive, it helps. Many people have health coverage through their jobs. In Norway the system works on a much lower professional level in my opinion. I have an infinite list of blunders a mile long committed by the Norwegian healthcare system. Anyway, this is my personal subjective view. I know many many foreigners living in Norway who hate their lives there. I was one of them. No more Norway. never again.
