France: Transportation - Is a car needed in Languedoc-Roussillon?:
I am coming in March to investigate relocating to the L-R area of France. Is public transportation adequate from, say, a small village like Amelie or will I need a car? Also, can anyone enlighten me re medical needs? Do I need insurance for France? I have Medicare with a supplement in the US.
Thanks.
Nicaragua: Teaching English:
I have an ESL Teacher Certificate. Does anyone know of
A school that might employ me in Granada or SJDS?
Italy: Le Marche:
Can anyone provide informationabout the Le Marche region? How is this area reached and from what airport? I am flying from USA.
Also, compare pros/cons of living on the coast to living in the countryside. I am coming to investigate living there as a retiree. Thank you very much.
Portugal: Rental Costs in Portugal:
It's been a few years since I was in POrtugal (before the Euro). Can anyone comment on what I can expect to pay for a small rental? Also the cost of food and basic household items? Thanks!
Nicaragua: Corruption in Nicaragua:
Thank you for posting this story about your experience. I agree that people post positive comments more often than negative.
I have never read anything so unfair in my life! I have been thinking about retiring in Nica, but, after reading this, I don't think so. It's a wonder you and your wife survived the experience. I am sure your health suffered from all the stress, not to mention what the unsanitary jail conditions most likely did to your kidneys.
I hope you are feeling better I could not live there if that happened to me, no matter how much I had invested. Do you really think justice is possible and worth staying there?
Nicaragua: Great Rental in Granada:
Fred, Do you think that OK Corral is a safe, secure place for a single female? Does it have hot water & AC?
Portugal: Guimaraes: Culture Capital:
Hi, I've enjoyed several vacations in Portugal, and it is truly a wonderful place. I am planning to return early 2013. Can you tell me where Guimaraes is located? It sounds lovely. Thanks!
Nicaragua: Nicaragua is the place to be! I've been Bamboozled!:
Yes, I'd like to see your bamboo house.
Nicaragua: Electricity & Water Cut-Offs:
Today, I read a warning, on a vacation rentals-Granada website, about electricity going out for 4 hours per day & sometimes water also. Can anyone elaborate on that? I plan to come for August.
Nicaragua: Mosquitos and other insects:
Searching for information on living in Nica, I've noticed many houses have lovely inside gardens. I've also seen dining area in a patio type room that is open on the sides.
My question is what do you do about flies, mosquitos, and other insects that must abound in the warm, humid climate.
