Venezuela: real estate:

there are now several states that have forbidden the sale of property, and cars & trucks! You will also need a Venezuelan partner to buy anything unless you already have a Cedula (national ID card). Where are you thinking of buying? There are no guarantees that the property will remain yours if the gov't wants it for any reason. I have been in the country for over 10 years and would not recommend buying anything right now, there may be a civil war in the not to distant future!! WAIT!

Venezuela: Where is everybody?:

I'm still in Porlamar after 10 years, just waiting for something positive to occur. If you're looking for bargains here you'll be hard pressed to find any here any more. Where are you coming from? Have you already got a place to stay? When will you arrive??

Venezuela: Venezuelan passports:

I'm on Margarita and all I know is that n the past it took 2-3 months. You need to go to SAIME and ask there.

Venezuela: Looking at moving back to Venezuela:

If you haven't sought out psychiatric help for your suicidal tendencies you should now!!! Gringos are targets for all sorts of crimes. You also now need a visa to enter the country, do you know that? Do you know the Canadian Embassy was closed in Caracas? Do you know that most products are imported and that most products are now no longer available. Like antibiotics, medicinal creams, condoms and other contraceptives. There are lines for toilet paper, cleaning products and detergents. There is no milk, coffee, beef or chicken. Companies are closing left and right because there are no supplies. Listen to the people who have more experience than you!! Heed the head on your shoulders (not the other one!) How's your Spanish? Read Dolar Today or Reporte Confidencia online! It sounds like you are living in a fantasy world. You think your life is worth nothing, but why add it to the statistics? There are thousands of people who love Vzla but they are witing until things improve before returning. THEY have the right idea, follow suit!! and if your chica is still here and available THEN, come back, but till then WAIT!

Venezuela: Americans will now NEED a Visa:

The latest problem between the president of Vzla and the USA is that he is now demanding that US citizens have a Visa to enter the country! One more excuse to fight with Americans!

Venezuela: 6 hour layover:

Tom, do NOT, I repeat, do NOT leave the airport to go sight seeing!!!! Taxis have been robbed at gunpoint on the road leading to and from the airport!! There are marches and other activities that hinder traffic so there would be no guarantee that you'd get back to the airport in time to make your connecting flight!!! FORGET leaving the airport for ANY reason!!

Venezuela: Venezuelan Currency Exchange:

I would imagine if you went to area with a large Venezuelan community, as in Miami, there might be someone wanting to change money but at what rate??? The Gov't rate is 6.3:1 and the blk mkt rate is almost 99:1 Good luck! Bolivares are generally considered worthless outside of Vzla as no other country uses them or accepts them as legal tender. Why take them away with you?

Venezuela: Prescriptions:

Many prescription drugs as well as OTC drugs are now VERY HARD TO FIND!! or if available are expensive!

Venezuela: Considering a move to Caracas:

Venezuela: What is Your Favorite Beach?:

It's a small beach behind the Bay Side shopping center, with restaurants, rentals of Kayaks, tables and chairs. It's a place for families who are looking for calm waters and fewer people.
