Argentina: Setling in Mendoza?:

Inflation is out of control. Crime is bad and getting worse. The central government has recently passed a bill limiting the amount of real estate a foreigner can own. Most Argentines don't like foreigners and you will be treated as such. There is alot of fraud in business. If you were smart you would not settle in Argentina. I lived there for 7 years and glad to be out.

Panama: Help needed!:

802 is right, crime in CR is out of control. When I tried to cross the border from Panama t CR the police stopped me and tried to extort money out of me. Most people who I have talked to that have been to CR have been a victim of crime. Its not getting better with this economy. The people who bought property there before the crash are desperate to sell and get out.

Argentina: The Truth about Mendoza:

I recently moved from San Rafael, Mendoza after 7 years. You can read a lot of rosey reports of how great it is. There are some good things about Mendoza don't get me wrong but these articles are usually written by someone with something to sell like a lot, timeshare, vineyard etc. However I rarely see a comment that addresses the not so rosey aspects. The reality is that in Argentina inflation is out of control with no end in sight. The government releases figures of 10% and ignores the problem while inflation rages ahead at 30 to 40% a year Crime is bad and getting worse because the inflation is creating a whole new group of people who must steal to survive. The days of finding a good deal on property is over. Many speculators bought in the good times and are now desperate to get out. I have seen some pretty misleading advertising. I hope anyone who is thinking about Argentina as place to live or invest should do their homework.

Argentina: Americans moving to Argentina:

This video is misleading. I lived in Argentina for 7 years. A while in BA and mostly in Mendoza. Argentines generally are not FRIENDLY especially to foreigners. Of course this is not true for all Argentines. In Argentina inflation is out of control. Corruption is rife. I was robbed 4 times. My laptop was stolen by "security" at the Mendoza airport. The days of good real estate deals is long gone. The government can change rules for expats overnight. Don't even think about having money in an Argentine bank. As an expat you will be a target of a myriad of scams. You will pay more for anything that doesn't have a price tag already on it. The bureaucracy is a nightmare. Be ready to stand in line for virtually everything you need. Gasoline is expensive as well as cars. I could go on but if you are smart you will NOT live in Argentina.

Argentina: Racisim???:

I lived in Argentina for 8 years and have seen racism against blacks first hand. One time a black man and white woman were in a grocery store and people made rude remarks to them as they walked by. Another time I was walking behind a white man with a black woman down a busy street and most people stared at them, some with looks of disgust. Most but of course not all Argentines I encountered do not like foriegners especially Americans, they have distorted images and facts about the USA fomented by their ultra left wing press. I had friends in Argentina, a black American woman married to an Iranian man. They were the nicest couple you will ever meet but daily encountered racism in Argentina.

Argentina: I Wish I had Known... Before Moving to Argentina:

When I lived in Argentina I was robbed 5 times. Virtually every time I bought something they tried to short change me. The inflation rate is about 30%, it has been for years and there is no sign of getting better. If you buy a product and go back 2 weeks later most likely it will be more. Alot times the raise is 25% not gradually. If you do any kind of business in Argentina expect to be cheated. I got to the point where I didn't believe anyone because I was lied to so much. Very sad. Argentina is a beautiful country too bad I can't say that for most of its people.
