Kenya: I am Moving to kenya - help?:
Hi,
What luxuries were you looking for?
I was surprised to find brands that I did not expect when I moved back from UK. There is even Faith in Nature here and other organic brands that I normally use and what is surprising is the prices are similar to those in the UK. I suggest you list brands/luxuries that you cannot do without and ask your kenyan friends/contacts or on this site where you can locate these before you leave. That way you can cross out what is available and carry what isn't. Furthermore some UK high street shops like M&S, ship to Kenya for £25, see their website for further details.
Kenya: Permanent residecy requirements:
Hi,
Not sure you still need this information but found this link, it mainly focuses on work permits even though title says live and work in Kenya.
http://www.expat-blog.com/en/guide/africa/kenya/1775-requirements-for-foreigners-to-live-and-work-in-kenya.html (posted 2010)
Maybe Class H Permit?
Or Class K permit as found on the Immigration website http://www.immigration.go.ke/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=89&Itemid=127
The only residency permit based on retirement is the Class L permit. however, it is for retired residents who have lived in Kenya for minimum 10 years.
Email immigration: dis@immigration.go.ke to find out which permit would be applicable, thats my suggestion.
Good luck, hope you find the info you need.
