Leave them on at night! Any podunk police department in the world will tell you the burglars will go for a darkened home any day over a well lighted home. Sure, it can happen but the overwhelming odds are that you will be safer. Some guy on the "other" forum posted that keepng the exterior lighted just shows the crooks where the locks are. Dumb statement! Your kitty knows where the locks are. Go with the statistics - light up!

Stick to your guns Retired2003. Unfortunately, you are right on. I have personal experience with the escalating violence in Guadalajara. I talk with various Lake Chapala ex-pats and they are very worried. The future just does not seem to hold a lot of promise for Mexico. BTW, I am not a doom and gloomer - just a realist.
