Scotland: British Citizen, never lived in the Uk.:

I am a British citizen, but have never lived in the UK. My fiance and I are planning on moving to Scotland in December, but I am lost for information on his options. I know I can live and work abroad, but what does he need to be able to do the same when we move there? We were planning our wedding to be in Scotland once we move there, but would it be easier for his sake to wed before we go? What documents, permits or visas would he need to be able to live and work in Scotland?
