Hi Jerryjan, My name is Luis, I am not an expat, I am a peruvian spanish tutor, and a translator. Actually, there is not such a thing as the cost of living, in fact it depends on where you live ( what district) if you decide to live in Miraflores, everryything is expensive, things are triple than in most places and you can find tihngs with the same quality or even better at other "distritos" I am not trying to talk you out of coming to Miraflores no way! Im just being honest and telling you what it is like, there are hostels that are very very cheap, actually I have a US friend who is an optometrist and he pays $5 a day and this includes breakfast and it is very safe and its in Miraflores but these are very few places, well. I hope this really this information might have been of help.
