Italy: Looking for Americans Living in Montepulciano Tuscany:

I will be moving to Florence, Italy right on the edge of Florence July 1st, 2013. I would love to meet some Americans also, I am a single mom taking early retirement with my college daughter who is coming with me to live. I am Italian descent also. My email now is Gaschiavino@gmail.com if you would like to contact me.

Italy: Am I Crazy?:

I am also crazy with you except for going to live in Florence. You are at a great advantage to have dual citizenship. I tried and did not get it but will try again in Italy after I research more. I think you only live once, follow your heart and it will all work out. I am going as an elective resident and am going to try and do as much as possible on my income. Good luck to you and I know it is a challenge but that is the fun part of it all.

Italy: Holiday Celebrations in Italy:

That is such a great idea to get people together for the holidays. I will be living in Florence next year at this time so hope you have these get togethers in 2013 since I won't know anyone either.

Italy: ITALIAN-AMERICAN SENIOR RETIRING IN ITALY:

I am also semi-retiring in Florence, Italy next summer, 2013. My parents were from the Benevento area in southern Italy and am planning to visit their home town also. Have been to Italy 4 times but love Florence to live in. If you want to correspond, please do so. I have to obtain my visa to live there and I do have an American Travel AGency who are giving me a part-time job in Florence so not sure if I qualify for a work permit. So confusing. Going back to Italian Consulate in Spring to try and get the right Visa.

Italy: American family moving to Italy to be with her true family:

Enzoccio -- you need to move on and stop posting.

Italy: Elective Residency:

I am planning on moving spring of 2013 to Florence, Italy. If I choose elective residency, the embassy in Chicago said I have to rent a place and show proof with a lease agreement. How can I do that withoug seeing the place in person? Can I just stay in a residency hotel first and then look? That is a big obstacle, anyone else do this before?

Italy: Want to move to Italy (Milan or Florence):

Can you recommend a good school for learning Italian in Florence?

Italy: Moving to Florence Italy:

Is there one good website to tell step by step what you need to get residency in Italy? I tried to get dual citizenship in Chicago and that was a nightmare so I want to go to Florence and then decide if I want to get an elective residence, or do I have to do that before I go to Italy? I have a passport. Thank you, I am so confused with all the information.

Italy: Wanted: English speaking Friends:

Reply to Expat SA. That was harsh. I am excited to move to Florence, Italy with my 26 year old daughter next year and now after reading what you wrote, it really took me back. I don't understand how you can talk about a whole country as being so bad, maybe it is your perception. I need specific facts to back that up.

Italy: My time has come!:

I am right behind you also. My parents are from Italy so trying to get dual citizenship -- plan on living in Florence and seeing every piece of art in Italy!! Just went there and fell in love with it all over.
