Kazakhstan: Men's Winter Footwear/Outerwear:
Hi! Welcome to Kazakhstan!
It is very wise of you to get prepared to the winter. Cause it is very freezing!
As I'm a wife of my business man I can tell how usually he goes outside when going to office. In December it is always very windy. So, yes you will need hooded overcoat and really thick! Wind and water protected, please!
Boots must be very protected! My husband wears Timberland's boots, they are very warm and protected. But of course they are mostly for casual wear. Regarding office wear, usually it's leather boots with fleece. And he has normal shoes to change in the office. I don't know if it is a habit in every office. Thermo underwear will be perfect too:)
Head have to be covered. If you'd like you can buy a fur hat in stores of Astana. There are pretty good variety of them.
This is what I know and would recommend for sure!
Good luck with preparations!
Cheers!

Mostly it is windy)))
Kazakhstan: Living in Astana:
Hi! What I'd say about Astana...it is new city with lots of new buildings and roads. Clean and frosty air, people are fair enough. If they like you they smile, if not they don't:)) No tollerance at all. I'm kazakh and I know it))) We live and do what we want to do. We eat what we want and pray to God in different languages)))
The school which is named after our president is one of the best schools in country. As I know most of the teachers are expats...and I know two of them, they are my friends. If you'd like I could give you there contacts. Probably they could answer all your questions.
Good luck!

Kazakhstan: I want to learn dutch in Astana:
Hey there,
I recently moved from Netherlands back home to KZ. And I had not bad progress with dutch language there.
I was wondering if I could learn it here, so that I won't forget it and to practise with someone.
Searched through internet it's no any classes given here or even no teachers with whom I could work.
If someone has any information regarding my situation I would appreciate that.
Cheers, juklina.

Netherlands: Hoping to move to NL!:
Hey Zaq! You are very lucky with choosing NL for your future purposes.
I've been living in NL for one year and I was amazed with all art opportunities they have. We lived in The Hague. It is really quite and peaceful place to live.
I could advice you American Book Center. They always orginize such things as exibitions, meetings with writers or artists. Well, it is that small what I've learnt myself. Maybe it will be helpful for you.
And most important advice it's to learn Dutch ofcourse. If you have time till april you could start learning it now.
The Netherlands for me it's best place to live if you are an artist:)
Good luck!!!

Kazakhstan: Astana health food/vitamin store?:
Hi there, welcome to Astana!
I am local lady recently living in Astana. Regarding your question on healthyfood stores or etc. As I know we have only one big store where you can find imported products, "exotic" food is in "Metro". It is located outside of city, but you can get there by bus. Usually all expats goes there. Then if you'll need some fresh and organic vegs and fruits I'd recommend to get them near the big market "Eurasia". There are old ladies selling real organic food, right from there gardens. Well they may not speak english...that'll do if you have russian speaking friends with you.
That's all I remember at the moment.
Good luck!
