Mexico: Considering Chetumal:
I am considering a holiday to Chetumal to see if I might want to live there - at least for a while. Is anyone on this forum currently living there? If so, I would really like to ask a few questions - one about receiving meds from the U.S. and Canada - NOT controlled substances. The other question is about expats living there - are there many? Can you meet people easily? Thanks so much!
Nicaragua: Receiving meds from U.S.:
I've read not to send meds from U.S. to Nicaragua. I have 3 prescriptions that I order online (with a prescription) and have them mailed to me where ever I'm living at the time. Can I not do this in Nicaragua?
Guatemala: Postal Service/Mail Service at Lake Atitlan:
If there is anyone receiving mail and packages via a mail service at Lake Atitlan, would you please give me the name of the company. I'm considering a relocation to Lake Atitlan but I must be able to receive meds from an online pharmacy. The meds I take are nothing special, in the U.S., but outside the states they are extremely expensive. If there aren't mail service/forwarding companies that service Lake Atitlan, how do others get mail/packages?
Thanks so much!
Guatemala: Mail Service for Hire in Guatemala:
I'm considering a move to Guatemala and wonder if there are mail forwarding services at Lake Atitlan. I need to order meds online only because I can get them for much less than the countries I've lived in - except the U.S. where generics are available. I've lived in Mex, Ecuador and Thailand and in each of those countries the meds I take are very expensive. So, it's probably the same in Guatemala and, I would bet, the postal service there isn't any better than Mexico or Ecuador. All I need is a reliable way of receiving the meds.
Thanks so much for you help and if you have anything to add about Lake Atitlan I would love it!
Mexico: Rentals:
I will be visiting Patzcuaro early in May or June, 2014, and would like to find a rental for at least several months. I'm visiting in order to determine if I want to stay long term. Is there a way I can locate a rental prior to arrival? If not, can anyone suggest a budget type place to stay while I look for a longer term rental?
Thank you very much.
Panama: Border Crossing Update from some folks:
I am currently looking into relocating to Panama and will want to do border crossings in the beginning, until I decide whether or not I want to stay long term. Since retiring I have lived in Mexico, Ecuador and Thailand, so I'm not new to border crossings and immigration services - ugh! I have a question about your statement that you need an airline ticket out of the country in order to obtain another 90 days to stay in the country. When I arrive in Panama, I have no plans to leave any time soon, therefore, an airline ticket would be wasted. Surely, there is another way????
Thanks!
Panama: Investigating Boquete/Panama:
I have been living outside the U.S. for 3 years now, first in Mexico, then Ecuador and now I live in Thailand. I'm very curious about Panama in general and Boquete in particular. I'm from Houston so living in a really hot, humid area is not high on my list, especially since I'm already living in that type of climate in Thailand. I have many questions I would like to ask but I wll start with one - health insurance. I'm retired and need to consider health care. I'm not at all worried about the caliber of care but I do wonder what types of insurance are available to expats who are living in the country with some type of retirement visa? I don't need visa info right now as I'll research that.
Thanks so much for any info you can offer.

Peru: Considering Relocation to Peru:
I'm currently living in Ecuador but considering a relocation to Peru. I am a single, retired female so I want to live in a town/city where I can meet other expats. I'm learning Spanish here in Ecuador but I'm a very long way from being fluent, so friends need to speak English. Where do most expats live in Peru? Where can I find out about the cost of living?
Thank you so much for any info you can offer.
Colombia: Healthcare and Health Insurance in Colombia:
I'm considering a relocation to Colombia and would like information on the quality of healthcare there. Also, whether or not I move to Colombia, I'm looking for a good international health insurance company. I'm currently living in Ecuador and need health insurance where ever I end up.
Thanks!
