Scotland: Considering returning to Scotland:

So, perhaps someone could help me here... I'm American, my husband is Glaswegian. Our two kids were born here in the states. So we are considering returning to Scotland to live. But I'm unsure of the best way to register our kids. I understand there are two different ways to do so. We're not sure where in Scotland we'll move back to it will depend on where my husband can find work (we'll tay in Glasgow at first because his family is there) Also, my son is in 1st grade here in the states, we'd be moving probably the last month of his schooling. What primary level should he be entering next fall (he turns 7 in February)...I want to hopefully catch him up as much as possible so he doesn't have to be held behind a grade.
