Romania: Bucharest, please:

I am a retired American, who has lived in a South American country for many years, as a tourist. I must and have left this country within every 90 days. I legally bought an apartment. Is it possible to live this way in Romania, at least, until I can get residency? thanks

Chile: Hola Expats in Chile!!!:

Not too many years ago, I knew a Canadian woman who lived in Santiago with her husband. She spoke glowingly about an expat group in Santiago. The group had its own clubhouse and had a great many activites. Apparently, this association no longer exists. I'm always surprised that there are almost no organized groups for expats in almost all recommended cities. Blogs aren't good enough. Being able to speak to people in person is very important. Going to noisy bars to seek out expats seems foolish. While I'm still on my soapbox, I'll add that there is a more to know about a place, than how cheap it is to live there. I'd bet that most people who write about these expat heavens have never beeen there. .

Chile: Getting Info From The Forum:

Airbnb and Flipkey. Posssibly Craigslist

Colombia: Can you recommend a Medellin neighborhood:

A major reason why I moved to Barcelona, at the turn of the century, and then moved to Buenos Aires is that both cities had regularly scheduled expat group meetings-gatherings. By meeting and talkng with people one can get an amazing amount of information about their new area. It surprises me that so few if any of the cities that come so well recom- mended don't have these social groups. Of course, money and the cost of living is important, but there are so many things to consider.

Thailand: Thailand retirement:

I have been living, legally, as a tourist in a Latin American country for 13 years. I must leave within every 90 day period. I am a U.S. citizen.. I would like to move to Chiang Mai. Since I am not a "resident" where I live, the Thailand Embassy will not issue me a visa. I was told that I would have to to a Thailand Consulate in the U.S. to apply for a visa. This is not possible. Do I have any other options to get a long term or retirement visa?

Colombia: Best SA Country to Establish Residence?:

RE Buenos Aires I have lived in BA for many years. When you meet a Porteno, they will undoubtedly be pretentious. Shortly thereafter, they become arrogant. Then it's aidios. Don't ask about inflation. I think of this country as Argenuela.

Thailand: thailand visas:

I am an over 50 year old U.S. citizen who has lived in Argentina, as a tourist, for 12 years. I would like to move to Chiang Mai. The Thailand Embassy, here, told me that they can't issue a retirement or long term visa, because I am not a permanent resident of Argentina. I was told that I would have to go to the U.S.. to get this type of visa. Going to the U.S. or getting an Elite Visa don't seem like good ideas. Do I have any other options? I am financially secure and would probably meet all requirements. .

Argentina: Questions--Moving there in 1 week:

I hereby proposea new name for Argentina......Argenuela.

Peru: Supplements, Vitamins, etc.:

Four kilos seems like an awful large of vitamins. Whe I lived in Barcelona, a Brit had the same problem. The Customs folks thought that the guy was going to sell what he tried to import.

Argentina: A general Question to those foreigners living in AR:

I travel often and pass through the U.S. 2-3 times a year where i stock up on Green money theat i exchange for "blue"money in BA. As a bonafide pessimist, I think that the government could put a stop to the "blue" money exchange. XOOM.com is a good way to get pesos. I know that they're in BA, but don't know about other areas.
