Bahamas: Looking for Studio for Rent in Grand Bahamas:

I have talked to many agents in Freeport and highly suggest speaking with Catherine MacLeay at (242) 727 - 1469. I am sure she will be able to help you out in a friendly and caring manner!! Good Luck!!

Bahamas: Rec's for immigration attorneys & expat medical insurance in Nassau?:

I am living in Freeport and we did not use an immigration attorney and had no real probs! I had to go back a couple times but I am an official resident with my permanent residency in the works! I gotta live here a year as a resident before I can become permanent. I still need to deal with health insurance--keeping mine from VA is not really an option cause the flights to VA are so expensive!!! My old dr is still sending me my meds but i will have to find a dr/insurance soon! I am retired from the US govt and have a couple companies I can choose from--that means I will have to think......

Bahamas: Direct TV in Freeport:

My move is finally here and the hubby is working on getting all of the utilities turned on. I was wondering if we can use Direct TV instead of Cable Bahamas. If you know the details, please share the info! THANKS!

Bahamas: Moving from US to Bahamas:

Dan, that is very interesting...I wonder how they would know you are leaving the country? I am getting ready to make my move next week and I have not had to notify anyone in the US that I am leaving. I have dealt with Bahamas Immigration and that is all....I don't owe anybody, but just curious. . .

I have been planning my move for a long time now. I wanted to wait to decide what I am sending until we found a house...still looking for a house there BUT I have sold the house all our "stuff" is in! So, gonna probably have to rent...gonna have to set up the move soon!! Do they put the car in the 40 ft crate with everyting else? I also will be interested in the customs duty deal! Have a great day everybody!!

Bahamas: bringing cats:

Hi! I just moved my cat to Freeport last week! The vet in the states gave me a pill to cut in half and give him for the plane rides. I gave him 1/2 a pill when the cab picked us up...he was a perfect angel the entire time and we had to take two different planes. He is having problems getting used to new surroundings but that was expected! My cat is 14 years old and I could not leave him with someone else!! I am back in the states for our belongings to get picked up and miss him already!! I was talking to my husband on skype this morning and I saw the cat walk in the room, I whistled and he immediately looked up at the computer!!! I tink he is missin me as much as I am missin him!! If you do decide to take them with you just make sure you get your info from the folks in Nassau--they were all very helpful to me! If you need their number, let me know and I will try to find it!! Good Luck!! I am excited for all this planning/packing to be over!!!

Bahamas: Marriage:

Hi Allie: I have been married to my Bahamian husband for 14 years. We just started my immigration papers a couple weeks ago. I must say that by the time we left the office I was totally confused and I don't usually leave until I understand exactly what is going on--but I left there so confused and I wondered if we were making the right move!!! It seems there are two different actions that need to be done--residency (which I don't tink takes very long) and work authorization. We were told my a govt official that it would be no big deal to get me work authorization as soon as we moved but that does not appear to be true!! I notice that you can get the same number of answers as folks you speak to! I wouldn't give up, but marriage is probably the only way you can work in the insurance industry!! I have done my work, I am not fretting over that but would like the opportunity to make $$ if I come across the right situation!! Good Luck!! I am going back to immigration next week--we'll see!!!
