Global Expat Forum: air conditioning work in Spain:
Barry,
I live and work in Lisbon, Portugal but can't directly help with your work enquiry. However, what I can tell you is that the labour market is very "tight" indeed in Southern Europe and without being able to speak the language fluently (Spanish or Portuguese) finding work will be very hard.
I do wish you and your family all luck.

Australia: Best neighborhoods in Sydney:
Hello Lucinda,
I would take a look at Seaforth which is on the Northern beaches across the Harbour Bridge and the Spit Bridge. About 30 minutes by car and bus from the financial district, a walk to good beaches and some restaurants and shops. But you will need a car to live here. It will be a good place to find a small house with a garden which will be good for your young child. I am a little out of touch with rentals but I would guess that for circa Oz 1500/month you would get something nice. If you enjoy sailing it's a great spot too. Enjoy all that Sydney has to offer.
Portugal: Employment:
I have recently arrived in Lisbon as a British National, I speak some Portuguese, French and Swedish.
My first challenge was to find a home, my next challenge is to find a job!
My background is Banking but as I thought that might be a little difficult here I trained to drive HGV and PSV vehicles before I left the UK.
Can anyone help? I am willing to try almost anything, almost anywhere in the Country.
I am available now.
Look forward to any/all advice.
IANO
Portugal: finding a place to live in Lisbon:
Well you will have found somewhere to live by now but, in the event that you have not, try looking in any of the daily Lisbon papers. I have been here two months and that was the best way for me to get started.
The next task is the language and a job!
Good luck and enjoy Lisbon.

Good luck....
