Mexico: Home School Program:
Hi,
I'm looking for recommendations for accredited home school options for grade 10,11 and 12.
thanks
Ecuador: Donation scams:
Be cautious with the donation scams. They've started. Some theater in New York seems to be think they need donations to send their community manager to help hand out supplies...???? Be certain you donate to legitimate charitable organizations.
Ecuador: leaving ecuador?:
I think most of the many that leave Ecuador leave because the hype has proven to be outright lies. There is so much positive marketing about the country that simply is not true. It takes a few months or years but the reality hits you eventually. It's not really a big deal. There can be immediate regret, but that will fade and the memories, hopefully mostly good, will remain. Don't feel bad about deciding to leave Ecuador. There are much nicer places to live abroad.
Mexico: Dentists:
Don't get a recommendation from a forum like this. Try to get first hand from people you know. We know of someone who went on a great general recommendation and almost had their jaw broken getting a tooth extracted. There are great options here for excellent dentists but many dangerous ones too.
Mexico: Weird Taxes in Mexico?:
I pay my taxes in my country of residency which is not Mexico. I'm a tourist in MX. Can you imagine if they tried to tax every self-employed (work from home office) tourist. You don't need a tax expert if you remain a tourist.
Mexico: Preparing a move with dogs and no car..:
Unless you need to sell your SUV for money I would recommended bringing it to MX. You never know when you'll need it. I wouldn't think of it as an unnecessary convenience. It could easily become a necessity. Just make sure you can find mostly secure parking.
Mexico: Cheapest cost of living?:
Cross the southern Baja off your list and maybe the entire Baja. Hope that helps.
Mexico: Living in Ensenda, Baja:
This is what I've learned about Ensenada so far in comparison to La Paz.
1. Groceries are much cheaper
2. Rentals are cheaper with better condition and amenities, you can live near the beach for the same price that you can live in a polluted area of La Paz
3. Crime is similar
4. Corruption is apparently worse
5. Did I mention groceries are cheaper
6. Still trying to interpret the pollutions numbers online.
7. City is about a 1/2 million in size
8. I'm told the food is much better
9. I'm told the segundas are much much better in pricing and selection
Thats all for now
Mexico: Fine for overstaying VISA?:
Does anyone know how the fine for overstaying a tourist VISA is calculated? Basically how much for a 2 week overstay?
