My life includes Peace Corps-Ethiopia, US Marine Corps (JA), health administration, and many years of university teaching. Lots of schooling along the way. Retired early from university teaching and teaching for several years in Ethiopia. I now want to relocate to the Philippines for a new adventure. I am divorced and have two wonderful adult children. 1. Everything is more expensive than you expect it to be. 2. Be careful who you befriend. 3. Be careful at night. Never travel alone. 4. Travel light. You can buy most anything anywhere.

Philippines: Please tell me about Puerto Princesa, Palawan.:

I am currently living in Ethiopia teaching here after retirement. I am now ready for something new. I had visited the Philippines long ago and I loved it. I would now like to relocate and Puerto Princesa on Palawan. It seems nice from all I have read. Can you give me some information about it?

Global Expat Forum: Which Country to Choose???:

I have been living and working for years in Ethiopia, East Africa and I don't recommend it because inflation is now at about 44% per annum. It's crazy in Addis Ababa, the capital city. I am now seriously thinking about moving to the Philippines. I have done significant research-- first it was India, then Napal, Cambodia, Viet Nam, Bali, Brazil, Argentina .....You know what I mean. I continue to do serious homework and it's going to be the Philippines for me. I can live okay on my retirement check, but I love to work and would like the money. I am seeking a job now before I leave Africa. I do wish you luck in your eventual decision! It's great being an expat. Great for your children, too.
