Honduras: Job Openings:

Not sure about Roatan, but there are plenty of places on the mainland (I saw places anywhere from Olancho to La Ceiba and then down in Amapala) where you can work at the hotel (in any department - kitchen, housekeeping, maintenance, etc.) in exchange for free room & board. Might be a good way to start and learn about the culture and the opportunities.

Honduras: Marriage in Honduras:

I'm a US Citizen. Met my (now) husband when I was living in Olancho. We did the fiance visa and we're now living in Boston. It was long and expensive, but obviously totally worth it.

Honduras: I Wish I had Known... Before Moving to Honduras:

Interesting...you all seem to be quite negative. I am been living in Olancho since 2006 with my catratcho husband. I couldn't be happier. Is there crime? Of course - just like any place in the States or the world for that matter. Maybe it's more pronnounced on the coast where many of you seem to be living. We're quite happy aqui en la tierra de coyol. The thing I wish I had known is that Honduran women have very small feet - it's hard for me to find a size 9 shoe! Now I stock up on Old Navy flip flops whenever I go back to the States.
