Netherlands: Dutch tax on US money?:
Hi, I have lived here in the Netherlands for over ten years and receive a US pension. My investments as well are in the US. I, or course, pay US taxes on my US money.
I am in the middle of a problem with the Dutch tax people. They think I have to pay a 'premie' on the volksverzekering for the Dutch 'social security'. I know I can not be taxed twice on the same money and was wondering if any other US citizens living here have encountered this problem. I had the same problem back a few years and that was resolved.
I think this particular tax person thinks there's a difference between 'belasting' and premie. Any thoughts?
Thanks, Dave
United Arab Emirates: musicians - deluxe hotels?:
Hi, I'm 52 and am a professional musician (jazz/comercial pianist).
I was wondering what the possibilities are for work. I would probably want to play in the better hotels, either solo/cocktail piano or with a trio (piano, bass, drums).
What the music scene in the U.A.E.? Any information you have would be most appreciated. Also, what is the typical price for housing - rentals.
Thanks, Dave Horne - The Netherlands
