Mexico: I'm totally lost:

There isn't any type of welfare in Mexico so without money, it is difficult to live in Mexico let alone get a work permit. And finding a job is very difficult unless you are a Mexican citizen. I don't think that Mexico will work for you. Kitt Vincent

Mexico: Suggestions for areas:

This may not be the correct forum to post on for Central America. The Lake Chapala area would work for you if looking for Mexico. Kitt Vincent

Mexico: Baja Resources:

I am looking for someone in the Rosarito or Ensenada area to ask some questions. I live in Chapala and have for 8 years but have a friend who is having difficulty breathing at this altitude would like to find a place that would work for him. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you, Kitt Vincent

Mexico: LIfe in Mexico:

To say that NOBODY can live in Mexico on social security is very misleading since there are thousands of us that do. I live on $1350 US per month but I do own my home so no rent but there are plenty of rentals available at lower prices. It depends on where you live. I have lived in the Lake Chapala area for almost 8 years. I did dip into savings when I bought a car and when my husband was ill. You may not be able to qualify for a permanent/temporary visa though so renewing your tourist visa would require leaving Mexico, either North or South, to get a new one every 6 months. You have to decide what you want as far as climate and surroundings first. There are reasonably priced rentals in most places except maybe the big cities but if you look hard enough even there. Good luck in your search. Kitt Vincent

Mexico: Best City For Me?:

The big hurdle I see you facing is income. Labor laws make it very hard to find employment for non citizens of Mexico. And the pay will be very low compared to the states. KittVincent

Mexico: And so it begins...:

Your responses will be a diverse as Mexico is herself. Figure out what type of terrain and climate you are looking for and then repost with more specifics. You will get better answers to help you. Kitt Vincent

Mexico: Dentists:

Dentists have modern equipment and are good in the Lake Chapala region also. Border towns like Nogales has dental offices that cater to US citizens coming across the border. Maybe smaller villages without a large expats communities don't have modern offices. Kitt Vincent

Mexico: Residents visa Attorney needed stateside:

Many places do not accept credit cards or debit cards. Mexico is a cash economy. There are some places that take credit cards but not enough to rely on them. Carry cash. Kitt Vincent

Mexico: Its the Pollution!:

Really? Yes, the farmers do a burn off to prepare their land for new crops but I haven't noticed pollution or a haze. There is a flu going around that has a cough and from I have heard it is a bad one. I have a cold but no worse than a cold. It is the third one I have had in the 7 years I have lived here. I live on the west end of the lake so maybe air quality is worse where you are. But I go frequently into San Antonio and Ajijic and have not been bothered. Maybe you are more sensitive. Kitt Vincent

Mexico: Choosing a place to relocate:

I sent you a PM but had to post a response to fredo63. I know that most sites tell you not to buy a home but it depends on your circumstances. I have never regretted buying my house but it was good for me. House hunting is the same wherever you are. You have a list of things you want and you find what will work for you. Midwest? Are they serious! There is no comparison. Kitt Vincent
