Panama: Santa Catalina:

We stayed at Sol y Mar when we were in Santa Catalina, just before town. I would highly recommend! Louis, the owner, is a fantastic cook and made dinners to order in the small restaurant. The rooms are clean, comfortable, air conditioned and in private casitas on the side of the hill. We took the bus (actually a couple of buses) to Santa Catalina and were dropped off at the driveway to Sol y Mar. We walked everywhere - to town, to the surfing beach and to the small beach where we caught the boat to go to Coiba for a day trip. The hill leading to the casitas is pretty steep and not for the faint of heart...

Panama: Requirements for residency in Panama?:

You want information regarding requirements for residency in Panama? Pretty simple. Google "residency requirements in Panama" and you'll find pages and pages of information!! Start reading!

Panama: bank advice:

Interesting, very interesting... I had wondered where Sir James was, missed those constant reminders as to how great Boquete was, and how we should all visit/move there, and "Oh, yes, I do have a casita to rent..."

Panama: RE: phone communication:

Another happy user of MagicJack in Panama. I set it up while in the USA with what had been my home phone number. People can call me from the US, thinking I'm still in the US, but it rings here in Panama. All calls to and from wherever you have set it up are free (with the exception of the minimal charge for yearly usage), reception is good as long as your internet is good.

Panama: Las Tablas:

Wow! Just have to reply to let people know there is another side to the story. I am a gringa living on the beach, closer to Chitre and I love it here. Yes, it is hot, but you learn to plan your day accordingly... Yes, the living is laid back, maybe what some would consider "boring", but there is plenty to do if you just open your eyes! There are many expats spread throughout the area, many of whom get together on a fairly regular basis. More importantly, they are there anytime you should need them or even if you just want to talk... A more supportive group I have never met. Don't let the nay sayers scare you off. Las Tablas and/or other parts of the Azuero Peninsula may be just what you're looking for!

Panama: cost of A/C:

I live at Playa Rompio on the Azuero coast near Chitre. Yes, it gets hot here!! During the day I use fans, along with breezes off the beach, to stay "cool". At night I run the air conditioner in one bedroom. I just received my electric bill - it was for less than $40!!

Panama: Panama or Costa Rica?:

JonCates, I seriously think you should think, and rethink, your decision to move to Central America. If you are so impatient with life that you can't write out PANAMA instead of "P" or COSTA RICA instead of "CR", you'll never make it here!! (And what the heck is USD.N.P anyway??!!). Slow down! Relax! De-stress! Enjoy life! Stop to smell the roses or waiting in a line to get anything done in P or CR will kill you!!

Panama: Expat Community:

misty22, Please do not rule out the Azuero ( be it Pedasi or some other town...) due to the comments suggesting Boquete is the only place for a single Gringa to settle in panama. I recently moved from the U.S. and love the ocean. I live in Playa Rompio, near Chitre, and have found the Azuero to be a community welcoming to female expats. You might have to spend a little more time searching out others, but, trust me, we're here!!

Panama: rental:

Way to go senormike with the info! It seems you don't know the name, price or the availability, whom to contact, an address, or anything else!! The only good information you seem to provide is to walk around town and look for notices on a pole!

Panama: Chiropractic services in David:

When reading 802mark's messages, I have learned to check the time posted. 23:06 pm, pretty sure he was under the influence... Do we excuse him because he's apparently had one to many?? Personally, I can understand but I can't excuse... He is a very angry man.
